How I saved Da Bears
The big Bears escape from the jaws of defeat is being attributed nationally to a great defense and an outstanding special teams play. That is not true. The real reason is because I had the foresight to turn my TV off.
Time after time, when I get disgusted with one of my teams and shut the game off, somehow my team comes back and wins. And that’s what happened last night. Right before Brian Urlacher stripped Edgeron James of the football and set up Charles Tillman’s forty yard runback for a touchdown, I shut the set off and went to bed. I knew what I was doing. I knew that if I did that, the Bears would make me wish I would have kept the game on. And, as luck would have it for them, I was right.
Lovie, please mail the game ball to my home address.
And, if you missed it this morning, Jay Mariotti hit it out of the park about the ’06 Bears. Good, not great and certainly not worthy of all of the hype. The Bears were exposed last night and more importantly, Rex Grossman was exposed last night. After watching that game, it was clear who the better Quarterback was and he was wearing number seven in red. I still believe Rex is overrated, over hyped and over blown.
The Bears are not a team that has had great quarterbacks. Even Jim McMahon was average and definitely human. The list of inept Bears signal callers is long sporting such names as Mike Phipps, Jack Concannon, Bobby Douglas, Vince Evans, Moses Moreno, Wil Furrer, PT Willis, Cade McKnown, Rick Meier and the great Bob Avelllini. Grossman is better than this gathering of stiffs, but he certainly is not elite and probably won’t be. He’s Kerry Collins in a better offense.
Isn’t it ironic that the Bush administration seeks a political solution for
The inconsistencies and contradictions that have permeated this administration since day one have now been placed in the open. The only remaining question is what they will do after the election.
Here’s another sign it’s an election year: Falling gas prices.
Gerald Ford is in the hospital again. The 93 year-old former President is being checked out for “undisclosed reasons.” I hope history will remember him as a man of ethics and moral principle and not as the bumbler
