Colts, Hawks to Move On

Here's my quick thoughts on Saturday's NFL playoff games:

Kansas City vs. Indianapolis (4pm, NBC): For those that love defensive footballs, do not look directly at your TV set this afternoon.  This may look like the AFL instead of the AFC when the dust clears.

Larry Johnson is the second best running back in the league behind LT.  The Colts couldn't stop my 82 year old father if he tried to run the ball through the middle of their line, so Johnson is in line for a huge day, especially in light of what Ron Dayne (2 tds, 153 yards) did to the Colts a couple of weeks ago.

The Colts advantage is Peyton Manning's quick release and his ability to lead his team to quick scores.  If the Colts can get up early, they can probably hold the Chiefs off and move on to the next round.

In Seattle, the Cowboys and Seahawks limp into tonight's (7pm NBC) game battered and bruised.  The Seahawks will be without a lot of their defensive secondary, which may or may not prove decisive.  The big question for the Cowboys is which Tony Romo will show up: the one that helped the Cowboys turn it around at mid-season or the one that helped the Cowboys lose to the lowly Lions last week.

Romo started out as a Cinderella story this year, taking over for the struggling Drew Bledsoe.  But lately, it seems that the Prince has turned back into a frog as more educated defenses and off-field distractions continue to mount for the four year vet from Eastern Illinois.

Add that to the apparent burnout Bill Parcells seems to be going through (three years with Jerry Jones is tough on anyone, right Jimmy?) and the traveling freak show that is T.O. and you have a Cowboy team that seems like they want to get this one over with and head for the golf course.

The Seahawks will depend a lot on Shawn Alexander who can put up big numbers especially in big games and chew the clock. If Seattle can get any production out of Quarterback Matt Hasselback who has struggled this year, the Hawks most likely will on a plane to New Orleans come next week.
