I'm Getting Pucked Tonight
It is time for the most exciting tounrnament in sports: The race for Lord Stanley's Cup. Here's how I see the first round:
East
West
What's going to be really cool about NBC's coverage, is that Don Cherry, the renowned commentator from CBC will be on NBC locking horns with the equally refreshing Brett Hull. There will be no butt kissing, no sucking up, no "he's the greatest" stuff from these two. Just pure, unvarnished truth. I love this game!
Lightning Round:
East
| Series | Winner | Comment |
| Buffalo vs. NY Islanders | ![]() | We all know how the Isles backed into the playoffs. Without Rick DePietro, they are beyond mortal. The Sabres will be quick and surgical. |
| New Jersey vs. Tampa Bay | ![]() | The Devils are a team built for the playoffs. Tampa is just happy to be here. |
| Atlanta vs. NY Rangers | ![]() | The blueshirts have played well as of late and their veterans and goaltending trump Atlanta's youth and enthusiasm. |
| Ottawa vs. Pittsburgh | ![]() | Best first round series by far, Ottawa has a chip on their shoulder. The Pens are exciting and young, but experience will carry Sens to round 2. |
West
| Team | Pick | Comment |
| Detroit vs. Calgary | ![]() | Both of these teams sputtered into the playoff, but Detroit has too many weapons to overcome and good goaltending to boot. |
| Ahaheim vs. Minnesota | ![]() | The Ducks are loaded with talent, especially on defense, so much so even Jaques Lamere can't stop them. |
| Vancouver vs. Dallas | ![]() | We'll hear about Roberto Luongo ad naseum, but he'll be hard pressed to slow down the streaking Mike Modano. |
| Nashville vs. San Jose | ![]() | The Sharks are a bigger, more physical team which will ride the speedier Preds off the puck. |

Lightning Round:
- Enough said about last night's White Sox debacle. They meet the A's this afternoon in Oakland.
- The Hawks finally won something!
- If I'm Tank Johnson, I'm making my plans now for learning a hobby. After yesterday, he'll be gone eight games. BTW, David Stern, are you paying attention?
- The Indians brought not only their fans to Milwaukee, but the snow as well. Great turn out last night at Miller Park.
- Jerry Reinsdorf proves once again that there is no fun in baseball and that the enjoyment of the fans is irrelevant to who belongs in the club. And by the way, Sox fans, you are no longer a team, you are a brand. Is it any wonder that I have not less than seven pictures of this ass clown on my dartboard?
- Michael Waltrip hit a light pole and left, not realizing that when you get into an accident, even one involving only your car, you have to report it. This story has been blown way out of proportion, but it just adds to what has been a miserable year for DW's little brother.
- The best column I've read on the Imus flap. As we said yesterday, see how many rats jump off the ship. Rumor is, MSNBC is thinking of dumping him. Mel Karmazian waits patiently in the shadows.
- The trouble with foodies is that they don't understand that when you are at the height of your earning power, you go out and you earn. In case you haven't noticed, all of the personalities on food network have sold out in one way or another, because you don't make a whole lot of money just running restaurants.
- I fell into a burning ring of fire, I went down, down, down and the flames went higher and it burned burned burned, the ring of fire, the ring of fire.
- Here's something Steve Jobs has wanted to do for years: Launch Bill Gates into space.
- One of my favorite blogs, South Side Sox featured this video yesterday, so i thought I would pass it along. Please make sure the kids and your Christian mother in law are secure in another room before playing.
