Kenny Williams Looking For Dye Job
Random thoughts as the trading deadline approaches:
I would be bitterly disappointed if the best Kenny could do for Jermaine Dye is Willy Mo Pena. The guy has been a bust everywhere he's played and would not come close to replacing Jermaine Dye. Besides, I really want to know once and for all if Ryan Sweeney can hack it. You can play him in left and move Erstad to right.
- Ozzie wants more speed (don't we all) but even with the trade of Dye for a less productive, gap hitting outfielder, the core of the lineup (Thome, Konerko, Pierzynski) is still going to run like they have refrigerators on their backs. No matter how many fast guys you put around them, it won't matter because when you get to the middle of the order it will be station to station.
- I think putting Josh Fields in the two hole is the smartest thing Ozzie has done all year. He should leave him there.
- If I were Kenny, I would see if anyone wants Matt Thornton, Mike MacDougal, Andrew Sisco or anyone else in the bullpen not named Jenks.
- I wonder if Kenny has ever toyed with the idea of signing Dye to a short term deal. I guess the ship has probably sailed on that.
- I wonder if Juan Uribe has any value to anybody?
- I love the fact that two former White Sox players helped the Brewers last night.
- The Hancock family has finally come to their senses and dropped the lawsuit they had against half the planet. They should Mike Nifong their attorney for even suggesting it in the first place.
- Gary Bettman appears to have had his brain cramp massaged.
- Here's ah the ah rundown ah on the ah 2007 ah Pitt ah Panthers. Don't worry Panther fans, somehow, someway, Dave will botch it. Dave has always botched it and he will continue to botch for all eternity.
- It doesn't matter to anyone whether Michael Vick is black, white, brown, green or purple with orange stripes. Raising dogs to fight and killing them is cruel and wrong. So why the NAACP enters the picture is a little cloudy for me.
- The Green Bay Packers non-existent running game just got a little more non-existent. Is it any wonder that the Bears will steamroll through this division? That is of course unless Mike McCarthy is about to install the wishbone.
- I have told you and told you and told you and now I'm going to let someone else tell you: Ethanol is a SCAM. And it's killing the economy and small businesses and prices on meat and dairy products. And noone will do anything because the tree huggers make too much noise.
