Random Thoughts: Pink Floyd Isn't Money
Random thoughts while wondering whatever happened to Pink Floyd Josh Stewart:
- One thing
PinkGavin Floyd isn't is consistent. Last week, he looks like the second coming of Jack McDowell mowing down the Tigers. Last night, he couldn't get anything over the plate and when it did, it left the zip code. Kenny, if you are going trade established starters, you have to do better than this for ROI. Now you've got a pitcher no one really knows what to do with. - The Sox blew too many chances last night. The biggest question was were was Paul Konerko in the bottom of the ninth?
- Pre-season football is dedicated to one thing and one thing only: Keeping players healthy. That's why you only see the stars for a few series in every game but the third when they play maybe a half. It's hard to take away anything from a pre-season football game except which players may fill the last four or five slots on your roster. And, it was probably a much less impactful game for a seasoned team like the Bears than a young up and coming team like the Packers (although, for the Bears Kyle Orton looked particularly sharp but their scrub defense couldn't contain Sage Rosenfels.). Just don't think whatever happened last night indicates what kind of year either Rex Grossman or Brett Favre is going to have.
- The Brewers stole victory from the jaws of defeat last night on a two out, three run bomb by the "Hebrew Hammer" Ryan Braun, followed by a solo shot by Prince Fielder. Those heroics, coupled with the Cubs getting crushed by the Rockies, give the Brewers a 1½ game lead over the Cubs. It was an incredible, exciting finish last night for the Brewers, but no one in these parts watched it because the Packers were on.
- The Blackhawks trade their second leading scorer for a player who is eight years older and has only 59 career goals. Denis Savard, still glad about that contract extension you signed?
- Rick Ankiel is certainly doing the things movies are made of. However, let's see how the script plays out before we all assume the ending.
- In a year critical for the survival of their coach, one Hog says he's leaving the wallow after this season. If he doesn't have a career year, his coach may be out the door behind him.
- So much of sports is non-reality. This is reality.
- It must be August. Arizona Cardinal fans actually have expectations.
- Saturday night's alright for fighting, except during football practice.
