The Sox travel west for a visit to Oakland and Seattle. The Sox never do well on this trip and given how poorly they played on the last homestand, I'm not too confident this is going to be any different. The best thing they have going for them is that Oakland is as bad as they are. Bobby Jenks may break the MLB record for consecutive batters retired. Nice story this morning in the Tribune about what it is that makes him special: The guy is fearless.
- Jose Contreras clears waivers (crickets).
- Fox Sports says the Bears are a favorite to return to the Super Bowl. Let the jinx begin.
- Slick Mousse says three more years of Heat.
- The NFL denied that they were going to suspend Michael Vick for the entire season. That is until they announce it.
- ESPN NASCAR analyst and cliche machine Rusty Wallace says he'll stay in the booth rather than get a car next year. Must be too much dirty air and wheel hopping for him.
- Five months after the fact, former LSU head women's coach Pokey Chatman speaks up (sort of) about her dismissal from LSU. Chatman says "she doesn't want to wrestle in the mud with the pigs." Stay tuned, this could get interesting.
- Raiders coach Lane Kiffin lmust be really sick because it is almost impossible to get a first year head coach off the field during training camp.
- Baroid gets cheered somewhere other than AT&T Park.
- The Chiefs are about to slide the old Johnson into training camp.
- The Chargers are a team that had the best record in the league last year but did not win a playoff game. So, they fired their coach. But Charger fans, you've got to ask yourself if you feel more or less confident when you look over at the sidelineand Norv Turner is standing there.
- Here's this week's SI baseball power ratings. The Sox are ranked below freakin' Baltimore. That's embarrassing.
- If Fred Goldman was so concerned about his son's legacy, why would he have O.J.'s book published since the proceeds benefit no one but him.
- How come when massive amounts of obnoxious nad aggressive photographers attack celebrities in parking lots, the celebrity's visceral reaction always makes them look like the bad guy?
- The world's oldest person has left the planet.
