Random Thoughts: I'm Turning My Head And Looking The Other Way
Random thoughts while wondering what ever happened to Shawn Jeter:

- I'll admit it. I didn't waste anytime with the White Sox last night. There was way too much going on with college football and NASCAR and the WNBA playoffs. The White Sox play for the privilege of getting swept this afternoon in Cleveland. I'll be out in my yard at that time. Hey, if they don't give a damn, why should I?
- No movement in the NL Central. The Cubs beat the Astros, the Brewers, showing a bit a resurgence lately. punish the Pirates and the Cardinals rip the Reds.
- What an opening Saturday in college football. Lloyd Carr, a man who has won over 70% of the games he's coached at Michigan will be forever tarnished and ridiculed after Michigan was shocked by Appalachian State. If I come across that damn Appalachian State commercial one more time (hot, hot, hot) I think I'll go nuts.
- Another big name coach who may have slipped into a hot water bath yesterday is Phillip Fulmer of Tennessee. In an exciting, scoring filled game, Tennessee showed weakness on both offense and on special teams. That and their defense gave up 45 points. Urban Meyer and Mark Richt must be grinning from ear to ear.
-
Florida was so good yesterday, the game was called early.
- Locally, there appears to be one team that will have a winning record in the state of Wisconsin this year. A good debut performance by Tyler Donovan who really needs to step up to the plate this year if Wisconsin is going to make a run at the Big Ten Title. One thing is for sure: The road no longer goes through Ann Arbour.
- The Coach Satan era begins at the Capstone. Ask yourself, honestly, would Mike Shula have beaten Western Carolina 52-6? Nah. Not even close.

- USC looked human in their opening victory over Idaho. Texas looked beatable in their opening victory over Arkansas State. Ohio State looked impressive in crushing Youngstown State. Notre Dame just looked plain lousy in their loss to Georgia Tech.
- Clay Bucholtz goes where Scott Baker didn't.
- The Bears have decided on their 53 man roster, sending second round pick Dan Bauzin to IR and releasing a kid I though had a lot of promise, wide receiver David Ball. Seriously, I can see them signing Ball and Chris Leak to the practice squad. Here's the rest of the highlights from around the league.
- Former Bears quarterback coach Wade Wilson says he ordered and used HGH only for himself and did not share it or distribute it to players. You only have to watch Rex Grossman's Super Bowl highlights to know that. As far as Wilson is concerned, if a non-player is using performance enhancing drugs, how is that an issue if it's proven he's not giving it to players? Wade Wilson does not have a union to defend him, so he has no choice but to take the fine and the suspension. There's something not fair about that.
- Jeff Burton wins the Busch race in Cali, which was highlighted by a spectacular crash involving rookie Brad Keselowski, whose #88 car ran airborne along a fence for several seconds.
- Idaho Senator Larry Craig has resigned, amid an airport arrest where an undercover police officer says Craig was sending "signals" he wanted to engage in lewd acts. The "signals" apparently include foot tapping. What have we learned form this sorry affair? If you have to take a dump in an airport, make sure you are not jamming to your I-pod.
- Alex Baldwin is a vapid, vapid man.
- Some great beards on display at a contest in England.
- Today's list: The top ten college football take downs according to the Newark Star Ledger.
