Random Thoughts: Thome Hits 499; White Sox Give Bi-Monthy Solid Effort
Random thoughts while wondering whatever happened to Mark Dalesandro:
- Every once in a while during this horrific 2007 season, the White Sox tease you and play like the White Sox. That's what happened Thursday as the Sox beat the Indians 7-4. Good starting pitching from Javy Vazquez, good relief pitching from Ehren Wassermann and Bobby Jenks and timely hitting from Jim Thome ( who hit home run number 499) and Paul Konerko. Too bad they only do this twice a month.

- I heard some clown on the post game show call in and wonder why the Sox couldn't do better at third than Andy Gonzalez or Alex Cintron and why the Sox had nobody in the system right now to play third. They do, his name is Josh Fields and he is currently playing left field in anticipation of Joe Crede's return next year. They have another guy, Pablo Ozuna, who blew a tire and isn't playing, who would normally be second string. So, you see, they do have people that can play third. The host, Chris Ronge did nothing to inform this knucklehead that he was speaking from his anal orifice and if he actually was a Sox fan he'd know all that I have outlined above. Of course, Chris would have to know all that too.
- The Brewers had a big chance to make a statement but didn't, getting pounded in Pittsburgh 7-4 as Big Bird blows another one. The Cubs took advantage, edging the Astros 3-2and again moving into a first place tie with Milwaukee. The Cubs conclude their series in Houston tonight while the Brewers have a day off.
- Here's what I don't understand. So what if San Diego thought Cedric Benson is soft(which he is). And so what if former Bears coach Ron Rivera may have said that Bears quarterback Rex Grossman is a mental midget (Grossman actually is smart, he's just a lousy quarterback. Mike Tomcak on the other hand fits the bill.) The Bears should be focusing all their attention on Kansas City as they have already lost to San Diego and seem to be continuing to lose days after the game was over. Here's a thought, Ced. Run over the damn Chiefs on Sunday and perhaps we won't continue to believe that the only difference between you and Curtis Enis is that you pay for your own cloithes.

The Chicago Blackhawks think if they win, people will show up for their games.
Nah. One year of winning won't atone for the fact that Bob Pulford
and Bill Wirtz are still running this team. Straight into the ground. Speaking of the NHL, training camp opens today (whoo hoo!)
- The news keeps getting better for Buffalo Tight End Kevin Everett. Doctors are cautiously optimistic that he may get to live a normal life after all following a devastating special teams hit on Sunday. Keep praying for him.
- What's the most valuable position on the football field? According to an article in Slate Magazine, it's quarterback followed by running back. It looks like the Bears are screwed.

- Hey! Look who finally decided to show up to work.
- Now kids are getting kicked off teams before they get to college. Chances are someone (Darth Visor) will gamble on him.
- Not to be outdone by Fred Thompson, Newt Gingrich threatens to enter the Republican race. Two words Newt: No chance.
- Mitt Romney swears his campaign had nothing to do with phoneyfred.org. Fred Thompson doesn't beleive him. Neither does anyone else.
- A professor at Washington University (St. Louis) theorizes if gas prices go up a dollar, America will get slimmer. I guess because we can't afford to drive to McDonald's anymore. Me personally, I'd rather remain my size and pay $2.50 for a gallon. I promise not to squander the savings on Big Macs.
- A Pennsylvania judge rules that marriages conducted by ministers ordained over the internet are invalid. Yet another person who doesn't understand that marriages are another way for a state to license something and as long as the state gets their cut of it, who conducts the ceremony should be irrelevant. Maybe that's why the percentage of married people is shrinking to the point that in Canada, the unwed have surpassed the wed.
