It didn't take long for Rocky Wirtz to start making some necessary changes to the Chicago Blackhawks.  And today, he made one that should have been made about 25 years ago, the reassignment of Bill Wirtz toadie Bob Pulford.

For years, Pulford has stood in the way of the Blackhawks organization moving forward by meddling with General Managers and coaches.  No one who has ever served the Hawks organization in that capacity has ever felt 100% secure knowing Pulford was looking over their shoulder. 

With the total failure of the Blackhawks the last few years to not only make it to the playoffs but attract fans, a man in Pulford's position would have been kicked to the curb long ago.  But, as I have said on several occasions, Pulford must possess a blackmail dossier including pictures of Bill Wirtz with various farm animals in a compromised state in order to continually have been on the Hawks payroll since 1977.

Bob Pulford will go down in history (mine anyway) as the most useless, ineffective, in over his head coach or manager in Chicago sports history.  This includes such notables as Dave (pieces are in place) Wannstedt, Terry (what do you mean I don't have anyone warming up in the bullpen) Bevington and the immortal Abe (Jerimiah was a bullfrog) Gibron.  Nobody, no matter how much I flogged them, is as worthless as Bob Pulford.  If I ran the Hawks, I would reassign Pulford to replace urinal cakes at the United Center.

For Hawk fans and Chicago sports fans (not to mention Hawks GM Dale Tallon and Coach Denis Savard) this is a day that is long overdue.

Let's hope that Rocky continues to weed out the slackers and bring in some people who will get the organization back to respectability.
