Random Thoughts: Once Again White Sox Forget Fans, Guard Wallets
Random thoughts while wondering whatever happened to Rick Wrona:
- Once again Chicago White Sox Sox VP of marketing Brooks Boyer ignores the pleas of loyal Sox fans to make it stop on Sox radio. Yo Brooks, as a guy with a little experience in this area, let me give you a hint: Your problem is not Chris Singleton. He's not the lead dog controlling the flow of the broadcast. Your problem is Ed Farmer who flat out sucks as a play by play guy. You had one of the best in John Rooney before you flushed him out of town because he wanted money commiserate with his talent. And now, your radio broadcast isn't even good enough for AAA baseball. Fix this, please. And don't tell me the fans all love Farmio because I know that's crap.
- We know the White Sox have a lot of healing to do in this off season and they appear off to a good start.
- The White Sox get additional good news: The odds of Torrie Hunter returning to the Twins are about as good as PETA naming Michael Vick man of the year.
- I predicted that the Red Sox would win the world series in five games. This may be the night the Rockies win. Josh Fogg has pitched well and Dice K may have some problems getting spin on his gyro in the mountain air tonight. That would really help the Rockies who are hitting under the Mendoza line in the series thus far. Good call by Terry Francona to put Big Papi at first.
- I haven't had a chance to comment on this yet, but Matt Ryan is da bomb.
- Lots of things going oin in Yankeeland: The Steinbrenners will meet with Scott Boras soon to discuss A-Rod's future. The good lord willing, they'll tell Boras what they expect rather than the other way around. I hope that they won't give Boras a forum on who the next manager should be because that would be wrong.
- Having covered professional sports for awhile, there are limits to how much you can push teams. Although countless GMs told me the teams were grateful for the coverage, that isn't always true and there are rules you have to follow. Kudos to the Yankees for kicking the worldwide leader in the knee.
- The difference between David Stern and Roger Goodell is that Goodell would have brought the hammer down on his referees when they violated league policy. This is why the NBA is still a huge cesspool.
- Here's more on the Edwards-Kenseth feud. As these teams get bigger and the drivers try to accomplish things individually outside of their team banner, you will see more and more of this. You are seeing some of it with Hendrick and Jeff and Jimmy vs. Kyle Busch and at Gibbs with Tony vs. Denny. Meanwhile, on the track in Atlanta, look at Dale Jarrett. I think that's the best run for a Toyota all year.. No matter, it really doesn't matter where you qualify at Atlanta, you can still win starting in the middle or back of the pack.
- The NCAA, being the good liberal that they are, have reached an agreement with Indians in North Dakota over NDS using the nickname Fighting Sioux." The university has three years to convince the tribes that this should be okay. $24 in trinkets should do the trick.
- Maybe Bobby Bowden is going to be all right after all at Florida State. The interim AD is practically Bobby's age!
- When it comes to the students at Penn State, Joepa really delivers.
- I don't really care about college basketball polls. They become irrelevant during the tournament anyway, just like the football polls would be if they had playoffs.
- Don't miss your chance to adopt a dog abused by Michael Vick!
