Butkus D. Dogg's Friday Fearless Forecast Week 10
You know sometimes it sucks to be me. Oh, don't get me wrong, I was 9-1 last week, raising my season record to an impressive 54-36 (the White Sox wish they could get 19 games over .500 next year), but it was the only game I missed that caused me some concern. I picked the Chiefs over the Packers and when that Gomer Pyle guy threw a pass and won it for the Packers, the fat dog and I had to hide under the coffee table to avoid getting punted by the bald guy. He really takes this stuff seriously. Our rules again are five college, five pro, straight up. Let's do this thang called pickin':
College
- Michigan vs. Wisconsin: Michigan is still trying to make up for being crappy early in the season. If you forget the Appy State ambush, their only loss was to a top five team, so they've played real well since their early season wake up call. Wisconsin is banged up and a marginal team at best. Take Michigan.
- Arkansas vs. Tennessee: Two coaches on the hot seat, one (Houston Nutt) with a hotter seat than the other (Phillip Fulmer). You are not going to believe me when I tell you this, but Houston Nutt is like a cold that won't go away. Once you think you have him licked, he jumps up to bite you. In a mild upset, Take Arkansas.
- Alabama vs. Mississippi State: Sly isn't going to Croom coach Satan and the Tide. This is one game where even John Parker Wilson won't blow the lead. Take Alabama.
- Auburn vs. Georgia: It seems like all of the good games are in the SEC this week and this one could be the best of them all. Upon further review, Auburn's defense will slow the Dawgs up just enough to sneak by them. Take Auburn.
- USC vs. Cal: Two teams who set out for a championship may be playing their championship game here. With John David Booty on call for USC, the Trojans look like the victor. Take USC.
Pro
- Minnesota vs. Green Bay: A year ago, this would have been the NFC North's loser's bracket. Now, the Vikings are making a play to creep back into the divisional race or at least make a spirited run for the wild card. However, given that this game is outside at Lambeau, it may be raining and Green Bay's defense can stuff Purple Jesus, I have to tip my tail to the boys from Wisconsin. Take Green Bay.
- Jacksonville vs. Tennessee: Jeff Fisher has done a great job with his team all year while Jack Del Rio has had some problems. However, in this game, you can throw all that out the window. Something tells me the Jags will be jacked for this one. Take Jacksonville.
- Bears vs. Oakland: The journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. For the Bears, this is their first step. Take the Bears.
- Dallas vs. NY Giants: The Cowboys looked great against Philly last Sunday night, but every once in a while, even a good team stubs it's toe. The Cowboys aren't as good as everyone thinks and the Giants aren't as bad. Take New York.
- Indianapolis vs. San Diego: Norv Turner, what have you wrought on the left coast? A team that is not in the same class as Peyton and the champs. Take Indy.
