Meet the Staff

I'm Chip Ramsey a career broadcaster who has been a sports radio program director in Milwaukee and Nashville. I've covered everything from high school and college sports (including the SEC, Big Ten, MVC and OVC) to Major League Baseball, The NFL and the NHL. I have a few things to say, and when I want to say them, I say them here.

I mostly talk about my teams, which would be the White Sox, Bears, and Blackhawks, but I do talk about other things as well. Thanks for dropping by. I hope you will bookmark this site and visit often!

Well, it's bowl time again. Even though my three favorite bowls are the water bowl, the food bowl and the toilet bowl., I understand that these games keep the days merry and bright (sorry, too much Christmas music.)

So, without any further introduction (because this will definitely be long enough) here is my 2007 Bowl Spectacular! Enjoy!

San Diego Co. Credit Union Poinsettia	Dec. 20 9 p.m.	San Diego, Calif.	Utah vs. Navy	Even without the old Johnson, Navy is still pretty good. Take Navy
R&L Carriers New Orleans	Dec. 21 8 p.m.	New Orleans, La.	Florida Atlantic vs. Memphis	This is one of those bowl games that makes you want to get out the DVD of "It's a Wonderful Life" or Christmas Vacation" and watch it instead. Or, just pluck your eyeballs out. Take Memphis, I guess.
PapaJohn's.com	Dec. 22 1 p.m.	Birmingham, Ala.	Cincinnati vs. Southern Miss	Southern Miss just let a winning coach go, so I doubt they will be motivated. Cincy on the other hand has been good all year. Take Cincinnati.
New Mexico	Dec. 22 4:30 p.m.	Albuquerque, N.M.	New Mexico vs. Nevada	Why does New Mexico have a bowl game? Or, so New Mexico has a bowl game to play in. Take Nevada.
Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas	Dec. 22 8 p.m.	Las Vegas, Nev.	BYU vs. UCLA	UCLA has been inconsistent all year long. BYU has been average. Take UCLA.
Sheraton Hawaii	Dec. 23 8 p.m.	Honolulu, Hawaii	East Carolina vs. Boise State	Lou Holtz son vs. Boise State in a battle of two teams from lousy conferences that should be home roasting chestnuts on an open fire instead of playing in a bowl game. Take Boise State.
Motor City	Dec. 26 7:30 p.m.	Detroit, Mich.	Purdue vs. Central Michigan	How far has the Big Ten fallen to have to play in this dog of a bowl game? Take Purdue.
Pacific Life Holiday	Dec. 27 8 p.m.	San Diego, Calif.	Texas vs. Arizona State	At last, a bowl game with a little tradition. I've said all year that ASU is a fraud. Take Texas
Champs Sports	Dec. 28 5 p.m.	Orlando, Fla.	Boston College vs. Michigan State	BC is a pretty good team, especially with a lot of rest to heal some of their injuries. MSU is a team getting a sun tan. Take BC
Texas	Dec. 28 8 p.m.	Houston, Texas	TCU vs. Houston	Now Texas has a bowl game with two lousy teams in it. I suppose Take Houston.
Emerald	Dec. 28 8:30 p.m.	San Francisco, Calif.	Maryland vs. Oregon State	Again, another bowl game that doesn't need to exist, but does because someone will pay for it. It's played on a baseball only field for crying out loud. Hope they don't trip on any of Barry Bonds' needles. Take Oregon State. Beavers are our friends.
Meineke Car Care	Dec. 29 1 p.m.	Charlotte, N.C.	Wake Forest vs. Connecticut	This should be called the YUPPIE bowl or the WASP bowl. I like UCONN here.
AutoZone Liberty	Dec. 29 4:30 p.m.	Memphis, Tenn.	UCF vs. Mississippi State	Will UCF be the latest team to get Croomed? Yup. Take Mississippi State.
Alamo	Dec. 29 8 p.m.	San Antonio, Texas	Penn State vs. Texas A&M	JoPa vs. the Rudderless Aggies. Penn State will be focused, A&M will be playing out the string. Take Penn State.
Petro Sun Independence	Dec. 30 8 p.m.	Shreveport, La.	Colorado vs. Alabama	The former weed whacker bowl pits two teams that used to be important that are not important now. Nor is this bowl game. But someone has to win and that someone is Alabama.
Bell Helicopter Armed Forces	Dec. 31 12:30 p.m.	Fort Worth, Texas	Air Force vs. California	Take Cal
Sun	Dec. 31 2 p.m.	El Paso, Texas	South Florida vs. Oregon	No Dennis Dixon, no problem. For USF. Take USF.
Humanitarian	Dec. 31 2 p.m.	Boise, Idaho	Georgia Tech vs. Fresno State	On the blue turf of Boise, rudderless Georgia Tech meets Fresno State. Take Georgia Tech.
Gaylord Hotels Music City	Dec. 31 4 p.m.	Nashville, Tenn.	Kentucky vs. Florida State	This game could go either way, but I think the Wildcats have a better defense and more talent at QB. Take Kentucky.
Chick-fil-A	Dec. 31 7:30 p.m.	Atlanta, Ga.	Auburn vs. Clemson	A tale of two Tommys. I think with Al Borges gone and Auburn's offense as bad as it was, Clemson has a good chance in this one. Take Clemson.
Insight	Dec. 31 TBA	Tempe, Ariz.	Indiana vs. Oklahoma State	This game is so off the radar screen it's being broadcast on the NFL network. Is Mike Gundy 41 yet? Doesn't matter, he'll still win. He's quite the man. Take Oklahoma State.
Outback	Jan. 1 11 a.m.	Tampa, Fla.	Wisconsin vs. Tennessee	Wisconsin has been a bit disappointing this year and you've got to think that the Vols have the speed to run off the farmers. Take Tennessee.
AT&T Cotton	Jan. 1 11:30 a.m.	Dallas, Texas	Missouri vs. Arkansas	Arkansas brings a lot of offense to the table but not much defense. This game will be very entertaining. The bottom line is Mizzou wants to prove it got jobbed by the BCS boys. They will. Take Missouri.
Gator	Jan. 1 1 p.m.	Jacksonville, Fla.	Virginia vs. Texas Tech	Texas Tech scores like an oilman in a cat house with a roll of $100 bills. Virginia had a nice season, but really. Take Texas Tech.
Capital One	Jan. 1 1 p.m.	Orlando, Fla.	Michigan vs. Florida	Michigan, meet Tim Tebow. Take Florida.
Rose presented by Citi	Jan. 1 4:30 p.m.	Pasadena, Calif.	USC vs. Illinois	It's been a frustrating year for USC. Illinois is right in the path of it. Take USC big in a total mismatch.
Allstate Sugar	Jan. 1 8:30 p.m.	New Orleans, La.	Hawaii vs. Georgia	Hawaii is a nice team as far as the WAC is concerned or beating lower tier Pac 10 teams is concerned, but Georgia may have been playing the best football in the SEC at the end of the season. Take Georgia in another huge mismatch.
Tostitos Fiesta	Jan. 2 8 p.m.	Glendale, Ariz.	Oklahoma vs. West Virginia	Oklahoma is another team that because of a couple of late season losses wound up on the outside looking in at the BCS Championship game. With their coach abandoning them for Michigan, UWV has little to play for. Take Oklahoma.
FedEx Orange	Jan. 3 8 p.m.	Miami, Fla.	Virginia Tech vs. Kansas	Kansas is a nice story, but in BCS parlance, they are a fraud. Take Va. Tech.
International	Jan. 5 12 p.m.	Toronto, Canada	Rutgers vs. Ball State	Ay, here's a game no one, including Canadians cares about. Are we playing on a 125 yard field? Can we play twelve men? Do I really have to pick a winner of this unnecessary game? Okay, take Rutgers.
GMAC	Jan. 6 8 p.m.	Mobile, Ala.	Tulsa vs. Bowling Green	Wow, this game is really lame. I mean really lame. For one, I didn't even know Bowling Green played football (kidding.) Hold on while I flip a coin. Heads it is. Take Tulsa
BCS National Championship	Jan. 7 8 p.m.	New Orleans, La.	Ohio State vs. LSU	This game will not be as good as everyone thinks it will be. LSU has had six weeks to heal, especially QB Matt Flynn and DT Glenn Dorsey which will make a HUGE difference for the Tigers. There is a lot of talent on this team, far more than on Ohio State. Big Ten teams find out at this time of year that speed kills. And LSU is speed. Take LSU
