Butkus D. Dogg's Friday Fearless Forecast (Week 17)

Wow.  What a tough week for yours truly.  I was 2-3, thanks in part to the Packers stinking the joint up in Chicago and then whining about how bad the weather was.  Just imagine how much fun a home game in Green Bay will be in January.  A team from Wisconsin whining about cold and weather is like the fat dog whining about lack of food...it just doesn't make sense.

So, technically, these are my last picks of the year, not including my bowl picks which I made back on December 19th.  I hope you have a happy and safe entry into 2008.  And I swear, if the fat dog tries to kiss me at midnight, I'll rip his lungs out.

Overall, I'm 86-59, with the tallies on the bowl games coming after the January 7th BS Championship game.  So far, I'm holding my own, but I need to do better or the bald guy is going to make me sleep outside. I'm a sensitive little poo, so I certainly don't want that to happen.  In fact, maybe if I do really good, maybe he'll make the loud teenager sleep outside.  A dog can dream, can't he?

Our rules for the final week of the NFL season: 5 games, straight up.  Let's end the year on a high note:

  • New England vs. New York: This is an interesting battle between too really grumpy coaches.  At the end of the day, Tom Coughlin is more concerned about the playoffs than stopping Tom Brady because if the G-Men are one and done in the playoffs, Coughlin will be out of a gig.  Take New England.
  • New Orleans vs. Chicago: The Saints still have an outside chance at making the playoffs, the Bears an outside chance of wrapping up their season by 3pm.  The Bears played their best game of the year against Green Bay Sunday and will probably have a bit of a let down.  Take New Orleans.
  • Detroit vs. Green Bay: Brett Favre looked like Superman being exposed to kryptonite on Sunday in Chicago.  No way that happens twice, especially with Green Bay tuning up for the playoffs.  With a first round bye, they have plenty of time to rest up.  Take Green Bay.
  • Minnesota vs. Denver: The Vikings laid a huge egg vs. Washington last weekend, possibly costing them a playoff spot.  They'll be ready for Denver who is having a miserable season.  Take Minnesota.
  • Washington vs. Dallas: This is a game where Dallas should be resting and getting ready for the playoffs.  But nothing would make Jerry Jones happier than knocking Washington out of the playoffs, especially on his home field.  Take Dallas.
