Random Thoughts: The World Weighs In On Big Swish
Random thoughts while wondering whatever happened to Rocky Biddle:
I told you earlier what I thought of the Nick Swisher trade. Here's what some other folks think including MLB Trade Rumors.com, The Big Lead, Tremendous Upside Potential, Southside Sox (with a headline similar to ours which is a coincidence as they posted hours before I did. In fairness, I didn't see their post until after I posted mine) and an excellent take from John at Bugs and Cranks. Also, the comments of our hero and role model.- If Kenny actually wants to go out and sign somebody, here's a place to start. (MLB Trade Rumors)
- Meanwhile, across town, if Wrigley Field gets any smaller, they will have box seats on third base. What it does say is more yuppie entitlement and still less seats for Joe Fan.
- Kansas wasn't who we thought they were. Or at very least, Va. Tech wasn't.
- Fox, the network of the NFL has had some real issues covering college football. (Awful Announcing)
- The Chicago Tribune is ending their national coverage of NASCAR to focus on local teams. So much so that writer Ed Hinton, one of the top guys who covers NASCAR has bolted the paper. It should be pointed out to the negative NASCAR nay sayers that Chicago, save for one day a year, is not a NASCAR hotbed and the Trib really didn't benefit all that much by covering it. So, it's not a disinterest in NASCAR as much as it is dollars being put somewhere else. I'm fine with it and I don't think it has anything to do with the alleged waining popularity of NASCAR.
- Jon Kitna is upset Mike Martz got canned. Does anyone really care about Jon Kitna's happiness?
- Mike Nolan looks to appoint his eventual replacement, I mean offensive coordinator.
- Florida DL Derek Harvey is foregoing his senior year to play Sunday ball. Harvey claims someone told him that he's a first round pick. Kid, they'll tell you anything to get you to come out, but when you go late in round two or early in round three, you'll find that whoever told you also took your wallet.
- My only comment on the Iowa Caucus is that it is very early in the game, although Obama really helped himself with a win last night. The truth is none of these people encourage me that this country has a bright future. New Hampshire will be a lot more interesting since people will be voting in a private voting booth and not have to stand up and be counted like in Iowa. I think Obama has serious mo going into New Hampshire, but I think Huckabee gets spanked in a northeastern state where people are God fearing, they are just not all gushy about it.
- Apparently, Alton Brown is lower maintenance than Emeril. It's okay, we enjoy AB too.
- Today's list: Jack's Best Roles. My favorites are Colonel Nathan Jessup and Randall McMurphy in that order.
