Butkus D. Dogg's Friday fearless Forecast (Week 19)
I am one excited little poo dog. The results are in from the bowl games and I went 20-12. Okay, it's not fantastic, but hey, in case you haven't noticed, I'M A FREAKIN' DOG. Maybe you could do better than me, but there's a lot of things I can do that you can't. Because if you could, you'd never leave the house.
So, with that 20-12 from the bowls and going 3-1 last weekend, I am 111-75 on the year, which again, when you consider I eat out of a bowl on the floor and take a dump in the basement isn't bad. The Bald Guy even thinks I'm smarter than the Loud Teenager. Look, to be honest, the Fat Dog is smarter than the Loud Teenager even if all he does is sit around all day with a goofy look on his face.
Four games this week, straight up. Onward and upward:
- Seattle vs. Green Bay: Mike Holmgren vs. Brett Favre is sort of like Darth Vader vs. Luke Skywalker. I mean it was Holmgren who developed Favre into what he is today...a former drunk that can still play quarterback at 38. This game is very tough to call. Seattle can slow down Green bay offense and if anyone knows how to rattle Favre, the Walrus does. Green Bay has a lot of kids on their team and a coach who has never led a team in a playoff game. Call me crazy, call me sick of all of the neighbor dogs bragging about the Packers, but my dog nose smells upset here. Either that, or the Fat Dog just took another dump on the carpet. Take Seattle.
- Jacksonville vs. New England: If there was one team right now i think might be able to beat the Patriots it may be New England. They have a great swarming defense and they are the only one of the AFC playoff teams the Patriots haven't played this year. That said, the Patriots have had two weeks to get ready and for Bill Belichick, that is more than enough time. Take New England.
- San Diego vs. Hoosierville: San Diego had a nice year, coming back from a slow start and edging the Titans last week to get to the second round. I think a rested Colts team is pretty strong and while the Chargers do have LT, the Colts have Peyton Manning. Take Indy.
- New York Giants vs. Dallas: I thought the redskins were the hot team coming into the playoffs, but I was wrong. It's the G-men. Eli manning suddenly is playing to his potential and the Giants defense has been pretty good. However, Dallas has had a bye week and since Yoko Romo will not be in the building, Dallas, even without T.O, looks pretty good. The other big factor in this game is that at some point and maybe more than once, Eli will make a mistake. When he does, the Boys will take advantage of it and move on to the next round. Take Dallas.
