D-Backs: This is a fine young team with solid pitching and defense.  Very easy to like in a league that isn't very good.

Padres: If these guys can generate any offense at all, they will have a shot to make the playoffs.  Their pitching is terrific.

Rockies: Last year was special, this year won't be so much.  I'm not thrilled with their pitching and thier hitting should regress a little this year.

Dodgers: They are already starting out beat up and we aren't even underway yet.  The key here is which Joe Torre shows up in L.A.?  The one that managed the Braves, Mets and Cardinals or the one that managed the Yankees?  My guess is, the former.

Giants: Along with the Pirates, this could be the worst team in the league.
