Random Thoughts: Anyone for Hillbilly Highway?
Random thoughts while wondering whatever happened to Steve Kemp:
- The Mayor and city council in Green Bay are debating what street to re-name after "retired" quarterback Elderly Hillbilly. They are also considering naming a bridge after him. Based on his last game, it should be a dead end to nowhere.
- The Chairman somehow feels that ownership bears no responsibility for the steroids crisis in baseball. He further goes on to blame the union. This from a man who once told Jack McDowell that "nobody comes to the ball park to see someone pitch a shut out. They come to see people hit home runs." You know, after 2005, I thought maybe I'd let up on him a bit, but he just keeps saying stupid stuff and I keep having to call him on it.
- Maybe if former Viking Carl Eller gets tossed in jail,he can appeal his sentence to the Minnesota Supreme Court...where his former teammate Alan Page is an associate justice.
- Sammy Sosa mulls retirement, or as he likes to call it, life without Flintstones Vitamins.
- What's next? Barry Manilow at Yankee Stadium?
- Dick Vitale can be annoying and cliché, but no one has more enthusiasm for college hoops than he does. Welcome to the hall of fame, bay-bee. You've earned it.
- Tony Bennett is doing the absolute right thing by staying at Washington State. There, he will maximize his reputation and be able to move on to a top flight program sometime in the next five years. Plus, most of the jobs he was considered for have the potential to either be stiffs or to get him off to a slow start, which just kills your reputation as a coach if you are not established (right Sean Sutton?)
- Some pitchers pitch with bad arms or bad shoulders or bad knees. Here's a guy pitching who is about to undergo cancer surgery. Doug Davis, we salute you.
- If Pat Summit isn't the best coach in D-1 college basketball, I don't who is. UT women's hoops does it again.
- Those wacky guys at SSNN finally found someone to play the part of Thomas Magnum in the new upcoming Magnum PI movie. Their candidate blows Matthew McConaughey away.
- KSK on the Elderly Hillbilly's Mailbag
- Some more of that Wade vs. Jerry stuff we love some much from KSK.
- Bugs & Cranks has a similar low down on a conversation between Andy McFail and Peter Angelos.
- How do you tax a myth?
