Random Thoughts: Is Pink for the Birds?
Random thoughts while wondering whatever happened to Isidro Marquez
- What do Pink Gavin Floyd and Mike Illich have in common? They both own the Detroit Tigers. (Be here all week folks, try the veal and don't forget to tip your waitress.)
- Tonight will be an interesting appearance for young Pink Gavin as he makes his first non-Detroit start of the year against the Baltimore Orioles. Let's see how things work out for him tonight.
- Last night, you could have shut the game off after the top of the first inning and not missed anything. Really.
- I can't believe that there are so called White Sox fans who think Ozzie needs to drop Jim Thome in the order. My advice to them? Buy a calendar.
- Jose Contreras pitched well last night against the Orioles. Of course, it's sort of like a Triple A rehab start.
- Orioles announcer Buck Martinez mentioned how Scott Linebrink joined the White Sox from San Diego. I think it was Milwaukee, Buck. No, I know it was Milwaukee.
- I think the White Sox defense is a lot more solid than last year. I just don't think people (Steve Stone this means you) should be foaming at the mouth about it just yet.
- Is Octavio Dotel still with the ballclub? I haven't seen him lately.
- Is Mike MacUseless still with the ballclub? Why?
- Don't look now, but I think Jim Leyland snapped the Tigers out of it.
- The Bulls Jim Boylan is the first NBA coach to get canned today. There should be another one in Milwaukee this afternoon. It's tough to finally realize your dream and then get shot out of the saddle. Sometimes it is your only grab at the brass ring. And chances are, you were working so hard trying to do what you were doing, you never stopped to appreciate that you were doing it in the first place.
- Big Bird is an unhappy camper. So unhappy, he had his agent call the Brewers GM Doug Melvin to discuss his future. Isn't that like having your mom call your English teacher to ask her to pass you? What kills me is even if Derrick Turnbow doesn't like his role, he's receiving a major league paycheck twice a month. That counts for something doesn't it?
- Don't look now, but some people do watch hockey on TV.
