Is Yost Toast?
In what may be termed an NBA style insurrection, Internet rumors are strong this morning Milwaukee Brewers are about to launch Manager Ned Yost. The firing would come on the heels of a five game losing streak, including a sweep at the hands of the Boston Red Sox.
The most damning evidence comes form the post game comments of slugger Ryan Braun who told the media that the Brewers "didn't expect to win." As Brewers beat writer Tom Haudricourt points out, with a newly minted $45 million dollar contract, Braun can speak freely.
Truth be told, while there is plenty to fault Yost for, the lack of offense and horrific performance by his bullpen are the reasons why the Brewers are currently in last place in the NL Central. While scalping Yost will appease fans and large headed talk show hosts named after fire dogs, it still isn't going to make the Brewers hit any better or make Eric Gagne blow any fewer saves.
Still, the expectations were sky high for Milwaukee this year and with the Cubs playing at a torrid pace, the time to keep the horse in the barn may be now. My suggestion would be Buck Showalter.
