Random Shots: Look! It's Paul Konerko!
Random shots while wondering whatever happened to Kevin Tapani:
The hardest thing to deal with in the rash of fan bile against Paul Konerko and Jim Thome is that they are good guys. Both Paulie and Big Jim are model citizens, they do outstanding charitable work and they are probably more like your next door neighbor than a big league ballplayer. What sucks is when good guys go bad. Sure, you want to see a Barry Bonds or a Sammy Sosa go into the tank because they are lying, cheating bastards. But Big Jim and Paulie, not so much. Last night at least, they quieted some of the boo birds down.- The White Sox go back to the future for no apparent reason. I put a fork in Estaban Loaiza a long time ago. Let's at least hopes he takes public transportation while he's in town. On another note, how did the Sox get him when Doug Melvin and Milwaukee should have been all over him. There's a team that needs some pitching help.
- Okay, so Greg Walker is safe. Yet, he's mad at Ozzie for his comments on Sunday. Ozzie could care less. Please, settle this and quit giving the Sun-Times fodder for stupid, space wasting stories.
- Congratulations, Cub fans. You've just been given the kiss of death.
- Speaking of the Cubs, Moises Alou needs to shut his pie hole about the Bartman incident. Moises, you never, ever had a chance at that ball, so quit acting like you did. Besides, it's not Bartman's fault, it's Alex Gonzalez's fault. See, we White Sox fans don't whine about losing in the '83 playoffs or the quick end to the '94 season any more. Why? 2005. Winning cures all. 2003 was five years ago. What have you done for me lately?
- More Cubs. I'm a huge fan of "Hire Jim Essian!." It's a great blog and is usually very entertaining, even though it covers only minor league baseball. But Kermit, please, leave our hero and role model alone. (Hire Jim Essian!)
- Our friend Rickhouse thinks Devin Hester's prowess as a wideout is vastly overrated. (Tremendous Upside Potential)
- Will John Paxon hire Doug Collins or will he Flip for someone else? Honestly, if it were up to me, I'd take Flip Saunders over Doug Collins in a heartbeat.
- Meet the Detroit Red Wings, the New England Patriots of the NHL.
- Now that the Stanley Cup Finals are over, Pittsburgh goalie Marc-Andre Fleury and Ray Shero need to sit down and talk contract. (Melt Your Face Off)
- How come when Ozzie Guillen goes off he's a loon, but when John McLahren goes off, it's no big deal. The good news for Lou Piniella is that when Seattle fires McLahren at the end of this season, Lou can hire him as his third base coach, thus completing the process of putting the band back together.
- If the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again hoping for a different result, then Brian Cashman is insane. (MLB Trade Rumors)
- Let's hope Ozzie Guillen doesn't get this crazy. (Serious Sports News Network)
