Random Shots: Don't Go Joe
Random shots while wondering whatever happened to Rich Wortham:
Last night's 11-2 win over the Twinkies and Joe Crede's two home runs was exhilarating and scary all at the same time. It's exhilarating as the Sox beat a division rival and expand their lead in the AL Central. It's scary, because every time Joe Crede hits a home run his trade value goes up and Kenny Williams might be tempted to make a move. To me, winning a ring is far more important than dealing with Scott Boras after the season. The Sox try to make it three in a row over Minnesota this afternoon at U.S. Commiskey Park.- This recent offensive outburst by the Sox should quell any hard feelings between Ozzie Guillen and Greg Walker. By the way, the Sox are 5-0 since Ozzie went nuts last Sunday.
- Wouldn't be a hoot if Kenny Williams' son took Scott Boras as his agent?
- The mistake that Bears GM Jerry Angelo made with Tank Johnson was drinking the kool-aid that Johnson would change his ways. Johnson never did, leaving the Bears looking like a bunch of morons after the final nail in his coffin, a DUI in Arizona. Let's hope Angelo is a little smarter with Cedric Benson. Damn the salary cap, damn the death chart, that's two DUIs in a month. Cut this guy now so everyone can move on. It's not like he's any good any way.
- Doug Collins withdrawal in the Bulls coaching sweepstakes tells us a lot. First, he wasn't the right guy (duh); second the Bulls are conducting this search like it's a Marx Brothers movie and third, Jerry Reinsdorf is heavily involved in this instead of letting his people do their job. All this is leading to a disaster. In doing such a poor job, the Bulls have made this position unattractive to just about any coach worth his salt. They'll get some assistant that has never been a head coach before or some former head coach with a losing record who will take the job for less money for the opportunity. It almost sounds like the Bears.
- Contrary to our friend Big Al's Opinion, I'm not ready to bury the Tigers yet. BUT, with injuries to key players on the Tigers and on the Indians, the Sox chances of making the playoffs become better IF the Sox can avoid major injuries. That's why, year in and year out, the White Sox MVP is trainer Herm Schneider. (Wayne Fontes Experience)
- The circus would like to come to town.
- Jevon Walker really needs to look in a mirror. Really. He's another guy who blames everyone else for his issues but fails to deliver. Green Bay Packer fans are beginning to realize how smart GM Ted Thompson is for launching this guy for a second round pick a couple of years ago.
- Sidney Ponson is a lot of things, but popular with his ex-manager isn't one of them.

- I don't write about Denver sports teams because I am not from Denver and I don't follow Denver teams. Tracy Ringolsby needs to learn the same lesson about Chicago.
- It wasn't his cracked hoof that lost him the Belmont Stakes, Big Brown was just flat out beaten by two faster horses. But weep not for him. He'll now be living the dream we all dare to dream. Hello fillies...
