Random Shots: Big Kablosion Edition
Random thoughts while wondering whatever happened to Mike Caruso:
You can't win them all no matter how many chances you opponent gives you late in the game. The Sox had their chances, but couldn't cash in, ending the myth that they would go undefeated the rest of the season (oh wait, that was the Cubs after the Cubs-Sox series in Wrigley. Never mind.) The same two teams play tonight while Minnesota entertains Cleveland and Detroit travels to Seattle.- Paul Konerko is about ready to visit Mike MacUseless and Josh Fields. I can't really say as I've missed Paulie too much. Nick Swisher is an upgrade at first and Paulie's bat hasn't really been missed. It will be interesting to see what Ozzie does when he does finally return.
- Brats. Cheese. Kringle. Sheboygan Hard Rolls. Friday night fish fries. Beer. No wonder C.C. Sabathia would like to get traded to the Brewers. Of course, after yesterday, the Brewers trouble spot is not starting pitching, it's guys who can finish.
- I don't understand why people treat the Twinkies with so much disrespect. After all, many people had them ahead of the Sox this year, thus making the Sox the surprise team, not the Twinkies.
- The notion of Brett Favre wearing a Bears uniform is absurd. It's almost as absurd as the potential starters being named Grossman and Orton.
- It seems that Vinny Del Negro's coaching stafff resembles the movie "Space Cowboys." Or "Cocoon".
- Jeeves has done a wonderful job of charting the iconthat is "Q" (Life in the Cell)
- The media begins to drink the Blackhawk Kool-aid. John McDonough was with the Cubs enough years to know that even if looks awesome on paper, it doesn't matter until you win. Of course, he's the guy that turned a crumbling, over crowded, foul smelling ballpark into a historical site, so maybe this is marketing.
- A.J. Burnett is being shopped for a shortstop. The Cubs have lots of shortstops (Ronnie Cedeno, Ryan Theriot) yet they haven't really been rumored to be in the mix. Do you think because Cubs GM Jim Hendry used to be with the Marlins that he knows Burnett may not fit chemically with the Cubs? Just asking. And while we're on this one, no way the Brewers trade J.J. Hardy for Burnett. Bill Hall maybe, but not Hardy. (MLB Rumors)
- Jaromir Jgar has left the building (and the country). Guess there's no market for washed up Czech forwards this off season.
