Random Shots: White Sox Play Badly, Look Worse
Random shots while wondering whatever happened to Roy Smalley Jr.:
The Chicago White Sox go from winning seven straight to losing two straight with an offense that has suddenly returned to sputtering and not getting key hits. No wonder Ozzie Guillen is so goofy. Not to mention the ugly cammo unis. Please burn them. Or give them to indigent deer hunters. Same two teams tonight.- At least there is good news about Bobby Jenks. Although lately, there are few opportunities for him to pitch anyway.
- If the Sox really wanted to do it right, they would hang a "for sale by owner" sign around Juan Uribe's neck.
- No what the experts say, the Twinkies are not going away. Neither are the Tigers, although they need to take advantage of the opportunities they are given if they want to be there at the end.

- Is it just me or is there a disturbing trend in MLB player-announcer conflicts? If so, Bud needs to step in and do something to protect the announcers, no matter how big an asshat they may be.
- The Brewers can downplay wanting C.C. Sabathia all they want, but the fact is, they want him. And they want to make the deal now to get him in a Brewers uniform. The Indians will most likely hold on to him as long as they can, waiting for a desperate team to want to overpay (like the Brewers want to overpay). This doesn't help the Brewers, who have had Omar the Tent Maker on standby for three weeks waiting to make Sabathia's Brewers uniform. Here's what it comes down to: The Brewers are willing to trade three really outstanding young players or two young players and J.J. Hardy for Sabathia, a player that they have no chance of signing after the season is over. However, since they may lose both Ben Sheets (free agency) and Prince Fielder (arbitration), NOW is the time for the Brewers to get to the playoffs for the first time since 1982. The problem is will they pay too high a price for a rent a player. Even if they win the Sabathia sweepstakes, they probably won't help their bullpen which is really awful.
