Quick Hits: As Usual, Harold Has No Comment

A couple of quick things in the news caught my eye this morning:

  • The Sox open the post All-Star game portion of their season against Kansas City tonight at U.S. Commiskey Park.  The Sox need to continue to win at home if they want to remain atop the AL Central.  Hopefully, the rest this week will get the starting pitchers (save John Danks) rejuvenated.
  • The White Sox are going to honor first base coach Harold Baines with a statue.  Rumor has it the statue is more talkative than he is.  Hell, Marcel Marceau was more talkative than Harold.
  • Don Banks wrote an excellent article for SI detailing his disgust and frustration with the ongoing saga of Brett Favre.  I can tell you here in Wisconsin, the Packer fans are definitely turning against Favre as evidenced by the not so flattering parody picture on the desk of our office manager.  If she has stopped defending Favre, there are few people left.
  • I've been reading Ray Ratto for years but had no idea what he looked like.  Now that I do, it makes me smile. (Hugging Harold Reynolds)
  • The NFL has hired special spotters to determine whether or not league players are flashing gang signals on the sidelines during games.  It's just the type of thing a league run by paranoid, middle aged, white guys would do.  No word on whether or not Senator Sphincter wants to hold hearings on this.
