Random Shots: Devin Hester Wants A Lot For A One Dimensional Player
Random shots while wondering whatever happened to Terry Leach:
- I'm starting to think Devin Hester's idiocy approaches only that of Brett Favre. Hester is a great kick returner, potentially the best ever in NFL history. But he's not so good at playing defense. Or offense. Or anything other than returning kicks. So, how do you pay the guy exactly? Like the best kick returner in the league or the best wide out in the league? Like Favre, Hester has apparently changed his mind. Just like Favre. Maybe Hester ought to let the guys in ties deal with it. (The Big Lead) (Windy City Gridiron)
- Speaking of Favre, Big Brother is on the case. I think Roger Goodell should stay the hell out of it. Favre did this to himself and if the Packers choose to trade him, they will do so in due time. Is Goodell demanding the Packers sign Ryan Grant, too? See, when a legend like Favre runs the league's name through the mud and generates negative publicity, it makes the Commish grumpy. But if the NFL had a player's union with some cahones like MLB, this would all be handled.

- Dear Kenny: With all due respect, if you are going to make a trade, make one worth it. Don't make a lame trade just to dump salary. Please.
- Can't people just leave this poor guy alone? He's obviously a class individual who really isn't deserving of the infamy he's been given. Besides, the sure double play ball didn't go through his legs. Enough. Stand down.
- These guys that jumped Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer are obviously trying to generate publicity for themselves. It will be interesting to see if Fulmer shows up in court or he lawyers up to go for the quash. How Fulmer's testimony is relevant to an Alabama booster is beyond me.

- I know I am a few days late on this, but I am old enough to have had the privilege of reading Jerome Holtzman and Edgar Munzel when they covered baseball for the Sun-Times. Holtzman was an old school, no nonsense kind of baseball writer who pretty much stuck to the facts. But boy, could he break a story. It's sad to see him pass.
- I hope that Milwaukee Brewer fans enjoy having C.C. Sabathia for the pennant race. He'll be long gone from Milwaukee after the season. The restaurants in Milwaukee will really miss him.
