Back in the Pink: Floyd, Quentin Eat Twinkies
Leave it to the kids to git 'er done. Pink Gavin Floyd went 7 2/3 innings while Carlos Quentin had four RBI as the White Sox stomped the Twinkies 8-3last night. If there was one disappointment, it was Bobby Jenks giving up two runs in the bottom of the ninth. Then again, when you put your closer in the game in a non-save situation, he isn't always focused. Jenks was out there to get some work, so you really can't be too concerned.
The win guarantees that the White Sox will leave Minnesota in first place. Even if the Twinkies win tonight in the series finale.
Every Sox starter, including Paul Konerko, had a hit last night. I was a little frustrated with Paulie in the bottom of the first inning. After Q's moon shot, Jermaine Dye and Jim Thome followed with singles only to have Paulie ground out to end the inning. At least he's making contact.
If the Sox win the division, Carlos Quentin deserves serious consideration for AL MVP. Start the chant now at the ballpark: "MVP, MVP."
