Breaking News?!:Favre Refuses Trade To Tampa Bay

Current Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has turned down a trade to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because, in his words, "burnt orange and pewter don't go with my eyes."

The Packers have been trying to trade their future hall of fame quarterback after a series of meetings in which team officials determined that Favre could no longer play for the Packers.

Packers General Manager Ted Thompson agreed to attempt a trade to accommodate Favre and seemed to have struck one with Tampa.  Bucs coach Jon Gruden is a former Packers assistant and runs the west coast offense, a scheme that Favre is familiar with.  However, hours after Thompson met with Favre to discuss his impending dispatch to Tampa, Favre nixed the trade.

"I went home and told (wife) Deanna that they wanted me go to Tampa," Favre told toadie SI.com's Peter King.  "She was in tears.  She said that their colors didn't match my eyes and I would look terrible.  She said I'd be better off staying retired or unretired or whatever I am right now.  Hell, I don't know, I've even confused myself."

Favre went on to tell King that the only color that would strike a perfect match would be purple and "not the purple the Ravens use.  That's awful."  The only other team meeting that color scheme would be the Minnesota Vikings.

Thompson, McCarthy and team president Mark Murphy are currently in high level meetings with a crisis intervention counselor and could not be reached for comment.

Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle has the state militia on standby should Favre be traded.
