2008 NFL and Chicago Bears Prognostication Spectacular
Here's one man's thoughts on the 2008 NFL football season:
AFC East
New England-They're still one of the best teams in the league, hidden camera or no hidden camera.
New York Jets-Brett Favre makes them solid at QB, something they haven't been since Joe Namath.
Buffalo-In what could be Dick Juron's final year, the Bills may have enough fire power to make the playoffs as a wild card. They may even be better than the Jets.
Miami-Give Tuna a year or two before these guys have enough players to climb out of the basement. Unless they give him a grabber.
AFC North
Pittsburgh Steelers-These guys are tough on both sides of the ball.
Cleveland Browns-In a critical year for Romeo Crenell, the Brownies are a team that will either be very good or suck fumes. I know that sounds vague, but I really think it will go to one or the other extreme.
Cincinnati Bengals-Marvin Lewis lost this team last year and he has very little hope of ever finding them again.
Baltimore Ravens-They are rebuilding, not reloading.
AFC South
Hoosierville Colts-Solid on both sides of the ball and touting the second best QB in the conference. Plus, if this is Tony Dungee's last year, these guys want to win one for him.
Jacksonville Jaguars-If Jack Del Rio can get these guys through the off season issues, they have a chance to go far.
Tennessee Titans-Vince Young looks like he might be regressing, but no one gets more done with less than Jeff Fisher. These guys could be the surprise of the league.
Houston Texans-Yeah, okay, whatever.
AFC West
Denver Broncos-The Broncs are back.
San Diego Chargers-Injuries are killing these guys. Without Michael Turner as a backup, LT will really be asked to carry the load. If he gets hurt, the Chargers are done.
Oakland Raiders-Better but still awful
Kansas City Chiefs-Worse than Oakland, enough said
NFC East
Dallas Cowboys-If Tony Romo can focus on football and not shtupping celebrities, this team could win the Super Bowl.
New York Giants-They're defense isn't as good, but offensively these guys are tough. After last year, it's silly to count them out.
Philadelphia Eagles-Donovan McNabb is focused on having a big year and saving two jobs: His and Andy Reid's.
Washington Redskins-Watch behind Jim Zorn every time he talks to see if Daniel Snyder is moving his lips. An average team in a loaded division.
NFC North
Minnesota Vikings-Provided they get any play at all from the QB position, they have all the pieces in place to win football's weakest division
Green Bay Packers-Aaron Rodgers will be a solid NFL QB, but he's no Elderly Hillbilly. Their biggest concern is whether or not the offensive line can stay healthy and if their running game will be as good as last year.
Detroit Lions-If their running game improves and if they can stop somebody on defense, they can get out of the cellar. For them, that's a moral victory.
Chicago Bears-Aging defense and nothing on offense will keep the Bears drafting in the top 10. Too bad Jerry Angelo doesn't know what to do with a high draft pick.
NFC South
New Orleans Saints-They dodged Gustav. Now if they can dodge the other two hurricanes, they will easily win this division.
Tampa Bay Bucs-Hi I'm Chucky and I collect quarterbacks. Unfortunately, none of them are any good anymore.
Carolina Panthers-The John Fox farewell tour starts Sunday.
Atlanta Falcons-It's going to take a long time to clean up the mess left by Bobby Petrino. Plus, your rookie quarterback is over rated.
NFC West
Seattle Seahawks-Win one for the Walrus
San Francisco 49ers-Here's your surprise team in the NFL this year.
St. Louis Rams-Sometimes things rot from inside instead of outside.
Arizona Cardinals-The saga continues.
NFC Champion: Seattle
AFC Champion: Hoosierville
Super Bowl Champion: (sigh) Hoosierville
