Butkus D. Dogg's Fearless Friday Forecast Week 2
I really took a dump on the rug last week going 3-2, picking an upset
and then getting upset twice. Mama was so mad at me for picking
against Alabama, she didn't give me any dog water until Monday. The
fat dog hasn't stopped laughing yet.Speaking of fat, Phil Fulmer really screwed me Monday night. I hope he treats Smokey better than he treated me.
Onward, upward and forward. Five college, five pro, straight up. I have a feeling this could be a huge week:
College
- Southern Miss vs. Auburn-Southern Miss used to be an upset school, but since they ran out their old coach, they are in a bit of a transition phase. Auburn has too many weapons. Take Auburn
- Ole Miss vs. Wake Forest-Sometimes you feel like a Nutt, sometimes you don't. I don't. Take Wake Forest.
- West Virginia vs. East Carolina-Skip Holtz has a good football team this year and came form behind to shock Va. Tech. last week. WVU knows this and they'll be ready. This game may be closer than you think. Take West Virginia
- Miami vs. Florida-This used to be a good game. This aren't your Daddy's Hurricanes. Take Florida. BIG.
- Stanford vs. Arizona State-Stanford has been known as a team to pull an upset from time to time, but this early in the season, Dennis Erickson and company are usually very effective. This would be a whole different story if this game were in November. Take ASU.
Pro
- New York Jets vs. Miami-Brett Favre makes his debut in a Jets uniform against the fish. Even though he probably doesn't know the offense or many of his teammates, one fact remains: He's still Brett Favre and he's playing a young Dolphins team. Take the J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets.
- Kansas City vs. New England-Tom Brady can beat up KC with a broken foot and a broken arm. Take New England
- Dallas vs. Cleveland-The Cowboys are favorites for the Super Bowl. The Browns, not so much. Take Dallas.
- Chicago vs. Hoosierville-How can any city that rolls up the sidewalks at 7pm have a pro football team? In any case, even if the Bears defense shows up, their offense stinks. All it will take for Peyton Manning is a couple of TD passes. Manning, who missed the pre-season, will get his first action against a team that probably couldn't beat a top ten college team right now. Take Hoosierville. BIG.
- Green Bay vs. Minnesota-This game could end in a 0-0 time. Both teams are similar with soild receivers and a young, talented defense. The difference is the Packers have a better quarterback. Provided Green Bay doesn't turn it over a lot, they should squeak by in a game that could go either way. Take Green Bay.
