And The Band Played On
I think for sheer excitement, thrills, spills and plot twists, I believe that last night was my favorite Chicago White Sox game of the season (thus far).
Both team, the Sox and the Angels came out like heavyweight prize fighters and in the fifteenth, after both teams had opportunities to win, the Sox did what they do best, which is to get a home run and win the game 7-6.
Some things I thought while I was watching:

Some things I thought while I was watching:
- Pink Gavin Floyd had unspectacular stuff last night but continues to improve at working himself out of situations that could lead to big innings. That's what big time pitchers do. Floyd's problem last night was that he couldn't hold the lead. After the Sox went ahead in the bottom of the second, he let the Angels tie it immediately. He also gave up two home runs in the bottom of the sixth when there were two out. But again, since he appeared not to have his "A" game it could have been a lot worse.
- It doesn't matter what uniform Torrie Hunter wears, I still loathe him.
- Nick Swisher has got to lead this team in clutch, game changing hits.
- The bullpen, save for the jack that Bobby gave up in the top of the ninth was spectacular. I'll admit, you always hold your breath when MacUseless or Ehren Wasserman P.I. are out there, but both of those guys were stellar last night as was Matt (hit this) Thornton.
- Tying the game up off of K-Rod was HUGE.
- Jerry Owens running for Swisher in the ninth was a bad idea as evidenced by his poor base running judgement. Defensively while he is an average centerfielder, he can't play left to save his life. I thought Ozzie should have pinch-run Wise for Swisher and let Uribe hit.
- but Josh Fields played a very confident third base last night. He's proven that if you hit it right at him, he's really good.
- The Sox wasted a ton of opportunities last night but managed to win. Perhaps this is their year after all.
