Random Shots: Saturday Gridiron Gridlock
Random shots about college football yesterday:
- The best team in the Big Ten is not Ohio State. Not the way they got drilled by USC last night. At least they lost early enough where they could climb back up the standings, especially since USC usually stubs it's toe in November.
- If South Carolina lost to Vanderbilt and Georgia barely got by South Carolina, doesn't it make the Georgia-Vandy game that much more interesting?
- Along with USC, Oklahoma played up to it's potential last night. USC and OU should be 1-2 in the polls. Mizzou should be three, Florida four and LSU five. That's right, Georgia isn't one of the top two teams in the SEC right now.
- Speaking of the SEC, Auburn is having a very difficult time adjusting to the spread offense.
- Wisconsin came through when it had to against a scrappy FSU team. This will help the Badgers in the Big Ten.
- Roll Tide. Even over Western Kentucky.
- Purdue had this game with Oregon in the bag before they just lost it. No wonder Joe Tiller has been asked to retire.
- With Ohio State hurt, Penn State may be the class of the Big Ten right now.
- As they say in the commercials, "I didn't see that coming."
- Even though Va. tech won the game, things are looking up for Georgia Tech under Paul Johnson.
- We told you and told you: Kansas is a fraud.
- Cal takes their annual dump against Maryland, a team who may win five games this year. Of course, in the football challenged ACC, anything is possible.
