Random Shots: Come Saturday Morning
Random thoughts while wondering whatever happened to Matt Stark:
- Here's a great chart to follow this weekend for White Sox fans. (Can't Stop The Bleeding)
- Meanwhile, North of U.S. Cellphone Field, there is a team that is getting it done. And no, I'm not talking about the Cubs.
- The White Sox may be a sinking ship, but at least Juan Uribe has a way to get off. Maybe.
- The Bears claim the Bucs played dirty last week, yet based on the fines, you can hardly tell the difference. If being able to score 17 unanswered points in a quarter and a ½ of football is playing dirty, the Bears need to hire Conrad Dobler as their next coach.
- There is more spin in this story than last night's debate. The Brewers could offer CC Sabathia enough money to fill Miller Park and a lifetime pass to Weissgerber's Gasthaus and he still will bolt for the left coast.
- The biggest game in college football today probably is the battle in Athens between Georgia and Alabama. Unfortunately, Larry Munson won't be there. If you've never heard Larry Munson do a football game, you don't know what you are missing. Some of the old time SEC announcers (John Ward, Jim Fyffe, John Forney, Paul Eells, Jack Cristil, Cawood Ledford) were everything an announcer should be: enthusiastic, a fan and unique. Any of these guys kick the asses of the sterile, silver throats we employ today.
- How can you possibly get invited to a bowl that takes place in 2010? And you don't think the bowl system is broken?
- Apparently, they don't follow baseball in Oklahoma. (Deadspin)
- Why would fans complain about skimpy cheerleader uniforms at a college football game? Oh, female fans. With husbands. Who live at the end of the earth.
- Fornelli brings to light a wicked Mad TV parody of our favorite MLB manager (Foul Balls)
- I could so see this happening. And I wouldn't blame Bud in the least. (Serious Sports Network)
