Hillbilly Deep Throat Needs A Spanking

Yesterday, Fox's Jay Glazer broke the story of how now Jets former Packers quarterback Brett Favre called Detroit and spent 90 minutes with coaches going over Packer tendencies and plays.  Then, Favre's BFF, Peter King, went on NBC and said the Elderly Hillbilly denied it

I'm going to lean toward Glazer here as he's right more often than not.

It's one thing when you are playing your former team.  Then, you are expected to spill your guts on everything you know.  But, if Glazer's story is to be believed, Favre, on his own, contacted the Lions and willfully volunteered information in a game he had no involvement or stake in.

If you are going to fine Bill Belichick $100,000 for making video tapes, don't you think Favre should get a little somethin' somethin' if the charges are true?  At very least, NFL Commissioner Goodell should have Favre cross the Hudson and visit his office for a conversation regarding the matter.

Of course, according to the crew on FOX's pre game show, it's Favre's time and he can call whomever he wants.  While that's true, the NFL has long portrayed itself as an organization that frowns on this kind of activity.

What have we learned from this if Glazer's story is true?

1) That the Elderly Hillbilly is a self centered jerk

2) That the Elderly Hillbilly wants to the Green Bay Packers to lose for spite and his own amusement.

3) That the Detroit Lions are so bad, they can't even beat the Packers despite the fact they know what's coming.

The bottom line is if Favre worked for a company and called another company to discuss what was being planned at his former employers, he would be immediately arrested for insider trading and forced to share a cell with Gordon Geckko.  Hopefully, the NFL will take the same dim view of this the SEC does.

In any case, the good people of Wisconsin are finally starting to realize that even a hero like Favre may have feet of clay.  Or a tongue that won't stop wagging.
