Butkus D. Dogg's Friday Fearless Forecast Week 9
Well, I'm back. The fat dog had it made going 4-1 on Saturday, but since he went 0-5 on Sunday, the Bald Guy is giving me a chance to redeem himself. How Fat Boy could pick the Vikings over the Bears is beyond me. I love walking up behind him screaming "BALL!" He likes it no more than I do. That's why he pounces on me thinking I am the ball. He's about 10 watts short of a bulb, that fat dog.Hopefully, this will be a good week. Otherwise, the bald guy may be taking me back to the pet store.
Five college, five pro, straight up.
College
- Texas Tech vs. Kansas-This will be like watching an arena football game. Neither one of these teams is particularly good at playing defense. I think the Red Raiders will be the last team standing. Take Texas Tech.
- Rutgers vs. Pitt-I can't believe that Rutgers has played as poorly as they have. They need a big win. I think they get it Saturday. Take Rutgers in an upset.
- Oklahoma State vs. Texas-I have to admit the Cowboys have been a surprise. If they can knock of Texas, Mike Gundy is a serious candidate for 41 year-old man of the year. If the Horns can shut down the run, OSU has no chance. I think Texas has too much fire power on offense and too much resolve on defense, especially with that wacky defensive coordinator they have. Take Texas
- Penn State vs. Ohio State-I like JoPa. He walks like Mama. But this is the game that puts Ohio State back in the national title discussion. Besides, when was the last time since Penn State joined the Big Ten that they've won in Columbus? Never, that's when! Take Ohio State.
- Alabama vs. Tennessee-The Vols have no quarterbacks. Period. To Bama's defense, Tennessee must look like a bottomless bowl of Alpo. If Alabama can stay awake in the second half, they will stay undefeated. I think they will. Take Alabama.
Pro
- Tampa vs. Dallas-The Bucs have a fine defense and a fairly good offense that chews up a lot of clock time. While the Boys have more talent below the neck, the Bucs are a smarter, more focused team. Take Tampa Bay.
- Kansas City vs. J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets-I think Herm Edwards has enough defensive savvy to give Brett Favre a long day. Considering I haven't been picking the NFL games very well, what's one more upset prediction? Take Kansas City.
- Washington vs. Detroit-The Skins will be on the warpath this week after an overtime loss and a narrow win over Cleveland. Detroit is like a sparring partner; the Skins will get a great workout. Take Washington.
- Giants vs. Pittsburgh-This is a tough game, but in the end the Giants have had it fairly easy this year beating up on weak sisters. This is a real test for them. Plus, there's a Plexico Burris mushroom cloud looming just over the horizon. And, if the Giants had issues with Cleveland's 3-4, wait until they have to deal with the Steelers. Take Pittsburgh.
- Indy vs. Tennessee-Which Colts team comes out this week? The one that destroyed the Ravens two weeks ago or the one that looked helpless against the Packers last Sunday? This is a HUGE game for the Dolts, so I'm going to say the former and take the Colts.
