Butkus D. Dogg's Friday Fearless Forecast Week 10
Another mixed week for me last week. I was 4-1 in college games, correctly picking the Rutgers upset of Pitt. But in the NFL, I went 1-4 again for another .500 week. I'm still 37-23 for the year and if we broke it down to pros vs. college, my college knowledge is pretty darn good. I'm a dog, for crying out loud. The fat dog is still making fun of me for picking Tampa Bay over Dallas last week. Maybe that's why he's dressing as Chucky for Halloween. Personally, I think he should go as Jabba the Hut.
Here's what we have on the table this week, five college, five pro, straight up:
College
- Wisconsin vs. Michigan State: Wisconsin is a better team than they've been this year while Michigan State is probably not as good as they seem. In a matchup of two teams that are about equal, I'm going to see red. Take Wisconsin.
- Northwestern vs. Minnesota: Same thing as above for this game with one huge point: Tyrell Sutton is done for the year for Northwestern. Add to it Minnesota being +15 in turnovers and Northwestern's occasional sloppiness and it looks like the Gophers day. Take Minnesota.
- Florida vs. Georgia: Florida is still mad about last year when, after the first touchdown, the entire Georgia team came out of the field. While anger is good, letting it blind you is not. The incident should have been long forgotten. Both these teams are really good. Georgia is slightly better. I see Knowshon Moreno having a big day (again), especially since lately, Florida is having a tough time stopping the run. Take Georgia.
- Pittsburgh vs. Notre Dame: Dave Wannstedt isn't going to wind up like Ty Willingham, but he probably should. Especially after Charlie Weis and the Irish get done with him. Take Notre Dame
- Texas vs. Texas Tech:This is the biggest game of the day. Texas has survived Oklahoma, Missouri and Oklahoma State and been impressive while doing it. Texas Tech, while a scoring juggernaut, has beaten only one ranked team this year, Kansas. Sure it's at Lubbock, but if the Horns can play any kind of defense, this one is in the bag. This could be an arena football score. Take Texas
Pro
- Green Bay vs. Tennessee:Green Bay gets some players back and Aaron Rodgers has had a couple of weeks to rest his shoulder. However, the Titans are all about defense and Rodgers will get blitzed all day resulting in more sacks than the Piggly Wiggly on Saturday. Take Tennessee.
- Detroit vs. Chicago:Two words. Da Bears. Take Chicago.
- Houston vs. Minnesota-This is a battle of two pretty bad teams, but I think the Vikings defense is due for a rebound. Take Minnesota.
- Dallas vs. NY Giants-The Giants won a huge game against Pittsburgh last week. The Cowboys continue to fall apart. The biggest problem is the Cowboys (Brad) Johnson can't rise to the occasion. The Giants would love to add to the Cowboys misery, especially with Tony Romo in street clothes. Take the Giants.
- Miami vs. Denver-The Dolphins have come a long way this year. In the end, Jay Cutler is the difference. Take Denver.
