Butkus D. Dogg's Friday Fearless Forecast Week 12
Well, at least I broke even last week with a 5-5 week. The bald guy put in a different picture this week thinking that might change my luck. What will change my luck is if some of these teams that I pick (you know who you are Georgia Tech and Green Bay) would stop pissing away games they should win.The fat dog keeps sneaking up imitating that stupid Viking horn they blow in Minnesota. I'd love to stuff him in one, but the opening isn't near big enough.
Five college, five pro, straight up. Let's make dog tracks.
College
- Georgia vs. Auburn: Both of these teams have been huge disappointments this year with Georgia getting crushed by both Alabama and Florida and Auburn just generally sucking. Football comes down to having a decent quarterback and Matthew Stafford is clearly better than any of the Gaborones that Auburn will run out there. Auburn is just a very disorganized and dysfunctional team right now and Georgia will surely take advantage. Take Georgia
- North Carolina vs. Maryland: Butch Davis and his team are on a roll. That should continue against Maryland. Take North Carolina.
- South Carolina vs. Florida: Forget the fact that The Ole Ball Coach is coming back to Gainesville. Forget the fact that South Carolina has won four straight and that their two young quaterbacks Garcia and Smelly have played well lately. Florida is peaking at the right time and it is doubtful that they could lose at home to this bunch right now. Take Florida, BIG.
- USC vs. Stanford: Pete Carroll's team has an outside shot at the BCS championship game with a little help. Of course, the Lord helps those who help themselves. This week, that won't be an issue for the Trojans. Take USC.
- Florida State vs. Boston College: Bobby Bowden and Jimbo Fisher have the Noles playing their best football in the last five years. BC has struggled adjusting to the loss of Matt Ryan this year. Take FSU.
Pro
- Chicago vs. Green Bay: The Bears have Kyle Orton back this week and while it may solve their problems on offense, their defense continues to have serious issues with pass happy teams. The sad fact is the Bears refuse to make the necessary adjustments to stop from getting burned in the air. The Packers are short on defense with A.J. hawk moving to the middle for Nick Barnett, but they play well enough to where they can win in a shoot out. Take Green Bay.
- Minnesota vs. Tampa Bay: Tampa Bay will put so much pressure on Gus Ferotte that he'll beat his head against a wall. Or feel like it after the game. Take Tampa Bay
- Detroit vs. Carolina: Detroit stinks, but this game has upset potential. I still like the Panthers though. Take Carolina.
- Tennessee vs. Jacksonville: The Jags have turned into a huge dysfunctional family thanks to some wacky coaching by jack Del Rio. The Titans remade their offense in mid-game last week against Chicago to stay undefeated. Again, upset potential here, but this is a rivalry game and I think the Titans will be ready. Take Tennessee.
- Dallas vs. Washington:The Boys are struggling and the Skins could deal them a big setback this week with a win. Having Tony Romo back makes a big difference. Take Dallas.
