Hell's Bells! Hoffman Solves Brewers Biggest Problem

Word from San Diego is that Trevor Hoffman is done as a Padre.

If I'm Brewers GM Doug Melvin, I'm on the phone right now making a deal.  That is before Jim Hendry picks up the phone.

Signing Hoffman would help the Brewers in many ways:

  • It would stabilize the closer role for Milwaukee which has been a disaster over the last three seasons.  Between Derrick Turnbow and Eric Gagne, the Brewers have blown a ton of save opportunities.
  • It would give the Brewers a huge upgrade over former closer Solomon Torres who just announced his retirement and will not return.
  • It would help a Brewers team which will be going to the bullpen early and often in light of the potential losses of C.C. Sabathia and Ben Sheets.
  • Hoffman would be a good role model for younger Brewers relief pitchers.
Are you dialing yet, Doug?
