Yes We Can! Sports Change You Can Believe In!

I don't agree with President-elect Barach Obama a lot.  As a matter of fact, I voted against him (and John McCain for that matter) in the recent election.  But in one area where I've found common ground with the incoming administration is in the area of sports.

Right off the bat, it's nice to have a White Sox fan as President.  Maybe he can issue an executive order to Kenny Williams demanding he find a center fielder not named Jerry Owens.

The incoming President, like most sane Americans, wants a college playoff system and may use his office to get one.  That's right, between healing the economy, withdrawing troops from Iraq and sealing our borders, the Prez-elect wants to deal with our national nightmare of the BCS system.

Most of the commissioners and the BCS leaders are happy Obama is a fan, but they would prefer he deal with areas of more domestic and international importance rather than their little football scam.

These are the same leaders who are doing not only the fans, but the schools a disservice with this system.  A school like Penn State which lost one game in October should be allowed to play for a national championship instead of being handed a cookie and sent to the Rose Bowl.  Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Texas have all had great seasons, but with the attrition rate in the Big 12, only one can go to the big game.  How about Alabama?  One slip against either Auburn or Florida and this whole season will result in a trip to a meaningless Sugar Bowl.

The national college football champion is not the necessarily the best team in the sport, but rather a survivor of an elaborate game of Russian Roulette.

Barach Obama wants a fair and equatable system in college football.

Perhaps, he could also get the NFL Network on every cable system.  Being from the Midwest, he certainly will work hard to make sure all citizens get the Big Ten Network. Maybe he when he said "I might throw my weight around" he meant that his administration was going to enter into a bi-partisan agreement with Senator Arlen Sphincter (R-Comcast) to hold unnecessary hearings at tax payer expense on a subject that no one in government has any business getting involved in.

Yes, we can.
