Butkus D. Dogg's Friday Fearless Forecast Week 14

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.  The fat dog takes the word "stuffing" to a whole new level.  He spent the whole day under the table waiting for scraps until I had to tell him that the bald guy and Mama weren't having their dinner here.  Boy, he got as deflated as one of those Macy's balloons around noon after the parade.

Last week I was 5-5, thanks to one college team that choked on me (thanks, Dave) and a couple of underachieving pro teams.  It was a 5-5 week, so I at least put off my visit to the kitchen at the Korean restaurant for another week.

As always, five college, five pro, let's move forward:

College

  • Mississippi State vs. Ole Miss: The Bulldogs have only Croomed one team this year (Vanderbilt) and probably won't be good enough to beat Ole Miss, even though this is the Egg Bowl.  Take Ole Miss.
  • Georgia Tech vs. Georgia: I think that with the injuries Georgia has plus the wizardry of Paul Johnson plus Georgia annoyed their season has been not close to what they thought it would be leads to an upset.  Take Georgia Tech.
  • Florida vs. FSU:  Wait until Bobby Bowden sees what dad gum horses Urban Meyer has.  Take Florida BIG.
  • Auburn vs. Alabama: Welcome to the "Arn Bowl".  Yes, I know it's "Iron Bowl", but if you live down south it's "Arn Bowl"  In any case, there is a lot riding on this game for both teams.  For Bama, it's running the table in the SEC and remaining number one nationally.  For Auburn, it's a sixth win, bowl eligibility, perhaps saving Tommy Tuberville's job and of course, bragging rights. Since this game is being played in Tuscaloosa and since Auburn has lousy quarterbacks and a dismal offense, I'm rolling with the Tide.  Take Alabama.
  • Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State:  This is a game for all the marbles in the Big 12.  An solid Oklahoma win over a quality opponent should get them the BCS leverage they need to get to the Big 12 Championship game.  All of T. Boone Pickens' money won't stop Stoops, Bradford and company from getting it done.  Take Oklahoma.

Pro

  • Carolina vs. Green Bay: The Pack is coming off a loss to New Orleans where their defense disappeared in the second half.  While I don't think Carolina's offense is that good, they could exploit the Packers weakness.  However, since this game is being played at lambeau, the cold may be the final say in this one.  Take Green Bay.
  • New Orleans vs. Tampa Bay: This is a big one for the NFC South.  Take New Orleans.
  • Giants vs. Washington: I don't think the Giants will slow down at a divisional rival.  They have really shown that they are the most balanced team in football.  Take New York.
  • Pittsburgh vs. New England: Matt Cassel, Pittsburgh defense.  Pittsburgh defense, Matt Cassel. Take Pittsburgh.
  • Chicago vs. Minnesota: Orton won't hear a who, let alone a why, what or how in the Roller Dome unless the Bears take the Vikings out of it early.  Will Devin Hester show up for a football game?  If the Bears use the same strategy they used against the Titans to try and stop Purple Jesus, they will cook their own goose.  Take Minnesota.
