Butkus D. Dogg's Friday Fearless Forecast Week 17
I was 2-3 for the last week. Thanks to the Packers for choking (again). How do you choke on cheese, exactly?I also didn't do so well with the Ravens. That's the last time I listen to Cris Collinsworth!
Five pro games, straight up.
- New Orleans vs. Detroit-The Saints are out of the playoffs and Reggie Bush is hurt, so they really have nothing else to play for in 2008 except two more games before they can arrange their tee times. The Lions, on the other hand, have a lot to play for, not wanting to be the first 0-16 team in NFL history. The Lions will be motivated, the question is, even if the Saints phone it in, can the Lions rise to the occasion. I'm sticking my fool neck right in the noose when I say take the Lions.
- Pittsburgh vs. Tennessee-This game will determine the top seed in the AFC playoffs. In all honesty, the Titans defense is enough to slow down Big Ben but probably not good enough to stop him. Last week the big guy showed serious poise against Baltimore. I'd love to watch this game, but since I live in Wisconsin, I'm force fed the Elderly Hillbilly, so instead of watching a great game like this, we're stuck watching the Jets and a team that stinks. In any case, take the Steelers.
- Atlanta vs. Minnesota-Both teams need this win to cement playoff position, the Falcons more than the Vikings. I think Michael Turner will cause as many fits to the Vikings as Purple Jesus does to the Falcons. In the final analysis, take the team with the better quarterback. Take Atlanta.
- Philadelphia vs. Washington-After being benched, Donovan McNabb has been on fire while the Redskins seem to be having issues with their coach. Take Philly.
- Green Bay vs. Chicago-If Minnesota loses on Sunday, the Bears could tie them for the divisional lead (and their only shot at the playoffs) with a win over the Packers. The Packers have lost four straight, are out of the playoffs and might phone this one in except it's against the Bears and it's on Monday night football. If you judge this on their previous meeting, the Packers come in confident and the Bears come in angry. I like angry. Take Chicago.
