O My! Kenny May Put Baltimore In The Pink

Floyd and John Danks are the core of a young pitching staff. Add to the mix Clayton Richard, Aaron Poreda maybe one of the kids Kenny picked up in the Javy Vazquez or Nick Swisher trades and wily veteran Mark Buehrle and the Sox have some decent starting pitching, which is the foundation to building a winning team.
This is why I was shocked, SHOCKED when I read that White Sox General manager Kenny is considering trading Floyd to the Orioles for Brian Roberts. (MLB Trade Rumors)
Don't get me wrong, Roberts has a huge upside. He can leadoff, steal bases, handle the bat and give the Sox their most legitimate lead off threat since Scott Podsednik in 2005. But is the price worth it, especially when the Sox have a glut of infielders?
Right now, they could start the season with Chris Getz (who I think is going to be a really good player) Wilson Betemit, who can play all four infield positions; Brett Lillibridge, acquired from Atlanta has a slick glove and Jayson Nix, signed from Colorado. Both Nix and Lilibridge were offensive busts last year, but it's not to say that either one couldn't snap out of it this year.
So, the question remains: If you are dealing from a position of strength and you don't necessarily have to have a second baseman (like you need a center fielder) why disrupt and destroy your pitching staff to get one? It makes no sense to me.
Of course, if Roberts could play center, then you might have something.
