Quick Shots: Packers Cleansing Not Enough For Fans
- The Green Bay Packers systematic execution of almost their entire defensive staff yesterday may look good on paper, but fans in Wisconsin would like to see GM Ted Thompson go with them. It won't happen though and I have faith that Thompson will continue to draft players to help the team. Of course, I'm a Bear fan.
- Many of the Packer fans admit that Brett Farve may not have been much help to this year's team. Then again, the packetrs had probelms coming from behind all season, which is a favre specialty. Then again, the defense dug them into several holes they couldn't escape, so the Favre discussion most likely is a moot point.
- The "help wanted" sign won't be up for long at Lambeau. I expect Packers coach Mike McCarthy to hire former 49ers head coach Mike Nolan to take over the defense. Nolan hired McCarthy as his first offensive coordinator in San Francisco and the coaching fraternity is pretty incestual when you get right down to it. (Pro Football Talk)
- I get the impression that the Orioles are asking way too much for Brian Roberts. I might give them Jermaine Dye straight up or possibly Dye and an infielder, but no way do I part with
PinkGavin Floyd for a player who plays a position the Sox already have a logjam at. - Only "Hire Jim Essian" offers you this degree of creative energy. Well played, sir. (Hire Jim Essian)
- We've told you and told you and told you and now someone else also figured it out.
- Saluting the Utes of America.
- One of baseball's best managers gets what he deserves.
- Even though Mariotti is gone, the idiocy of some Chicago columnists remains.
- This may affect the Twins more than anything, especially if there is no timely succession in place or the will is in probate for awhile. For all the bitching you heard about Carl Pohlad, his team had great GMs, solid managers and two world championships during his tenure as owner. The Sox have had only one and the Cubs. Well, you know how many championships the Cubs have had.
