Random Shots: Is Kenny Williams Obsessed With Middle Infielders?
Random shots while wondering whatever happened to David Lundquist:
- One of the guys who is rumored to be in the mix to take the Cubs off Sam Zell's hands has been described as "a real Cub fan." Danger Will Robinson, danger. (MLB Trade Rumors)
- Here's some pretty solid thoughts on what might happen in Chicago baseball this year. (The 35th Street Review)
- I hope the fans in Milwaukee like "Hell's Bells." I think it's great that the Brewers addressed their closer issues. The problem is it's hard to have a good closer when your setup guys and your starting staff is as shaky as the Brewers are going to be.
- It appears Joe Crede will not serve as an impediment to the White Sox this year...at least in their division (MLB Trade Rumors)
- Now that the Blackhawks are relevant again, columnists feel the need to write about them. It would be nice if they actually knew something about the sport (The Fifth Feather)
- The Chicago Sports story everyone has been waiting for. This ranks up there with all of the important stuff. Snore.
- Memo to Glen Coffey of Alabama and P.J. Hill of Wisconsin: I don't know who has been advising you on the NFL draft, but whoever it is doesn't have your best interests in mind. Both of you guys will be lucky to go in the third or fourth round. I guess it beats going to class. (Roll Bama Roll)
- Steve Spurrier cleans up a Smelly problem.
- This weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth over NFL overtime is really picking up steam. I couldn't disagree more. (Pro Football Talk)
- Toronto's Mikhail Grabovski abuses a linesman and gets a three game suspension. Sean Avery was politically incorrect and got six games. If that's not an indication that the NHL was out to get Avery, well you just haven't read between the lines enough.
- Bill Romanowski says he wants to coach the Broncos. Most people laugh. Of course, most people laughed when George Halas hired some guy named Ditka.
- Ken Burns is adding an additional segment to an updated version of his retrospective "Baseball" to air on PBS. This will cover the story from when the original left off until the modern day. Let's hope he's hired better fact checkers this time.
- Taking time out from his day of figuring out how to bail out the economy and keep the middle east from melting down, President-Elect Obama continues to push for a playoff system in college football While we agree with him, politics and Presidents should not interfere with private interests, even if those interests are wrong.
- And now, for some humor: Let's begin in Philadelphia, where Frank Fitzpatrick his one out of the park. (Sports Curmudgeon)
- Mark Townsend has some pretty interesting ideas on what you will not be seeing on MLBN. (Bugs & Cranks)
- Two great efforts from KSK-First, the ongoing saga of Jerry, Wade and Jason. Meanwhile, in New York, another soap opera is brewing. (Kissing Suzy Kolber)
- Finally, should G.W. pardon O.J.?
