Quick Shots: How Many Infielders Is Enough?
- Now the latest White Sox want to shed some salary rumors have to do with the possible trade of Jermaine Dye to the Angels for (wait for it) Chone Figgins. Figgins is rumored to be in line to play third if the trade is consummated. I've said it a gazillion times and I'll say it again: THE SOX HAVE ENOUGH INFIELDERS. Please, for the love of monkeys, trade for a *%^&ing center fielder. You have ZERO right now. At least ZERO that have an impact. (South Side Sox)
- The White Sox have invited a bunch of players to their spring training tea party including newly acquired catcher-of-the-future Tyler Flowers and stud pitcher-of-the-future Aaron Poreda. The Sox, who need a back up catcher, also invited Donny Lucey (unlikely), Corky Miller (also unlikely) and Chris Stewart (also unlikely). (MLB Trade Rumors)
- Among the names that I recognized were pitcher Franklyn German (former Tiger, big dude, like CC Sabathia big) and outfielder Michael Restovich (pinch hitter, reserve outfielder.) I don't think any of these guys have a chance to stick with the big club, but then I'm done making predictions after the Tomo Ocha disaster of last year.
- They've also invited Mike MacUseless who appears to be like a bad penny.
- The Cheat has an interesting scenario on the future of Orlando Cabrera and how it affects the White Sox long term. (South Side Sox)
- Byron Leftwich is interested in playing for the Bears. At this point, I'm open to anyone not named Rex Grossman.
- Jeff Jagodzinski may be a little left of center in his approach to finding work. He got himself fired at BC (which is a good job) and may come back to the NFL as a coordinator. I don't get it, especially in this economy. (Pro Football Talk)
- A couple of years ago, Kerry Collins was on the NFL scrap heap. Now he feels like he can issue ultimatums? (The Big Lead)
- The economy is in ruins, homes are being foreclosed upon, Israel is shooting missiles at Hamas and people continue to sneak into our country. With all this going on, where does Congress have the time to give a rat's ass about who runs the NFLPA? (Pro Football Talk)
- Fans of Bert Blylevin and Andre Dawson were disappointed yesterday when their heroes weren't voted into baseball's hall of fame yesterday. They join fans of Ron Santo who have been disappointed for years.
- I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but isn't this like Rod Marinelli giving a TV address to Lions fans? (TV Squad)
