Quick Shots: The Big Boy Deserved A Big Raise

  • Big Bobby Jenks has done almost everything asked of him over the years (except for that WS game 2 meltdown) and is deserving of a big payday.  The thing I admire about Jenks is how he suddenly outgrew his immaturity to become one of the top relief pitchers in the game.
  • One of the Sox underrated heroes from 2005 is going home.
  • Get ready for Freddie.  I think the Ozzie connection gets this done.  And, in reality, it's not a bad thing. You can never have enough potentially injured over the hill veteran starters on your staff. (South Side Sox)
  • I loathe contrived events that are created for the sole purpose of generating revenue and mean nothing to anyone.  All the WBC does is make players wilt in September.  Can't they play this in November?
  • One of the best enforcers in history is back in the NHL.  Beware, Detroit.
  • ESPN has canceled its' Thursday night MLS game of the week.  Because if a soccer game is played in America and nobody watches it, does it make a sound? (Sports Media Watch)
  • Scott Boras is screwing his clients left and right with his adversarial advise.  First Manny, then Jason, maybe Joe and now Prince.  I know this guy drives a hard bargain, but in this climate, teams are not willing to be held hostage.  Prince should realize what a good deal he has in Milwaukee and be grateful that he's not working on a loading dock somewhere. And oh yeah, big boy: I've seen Ryan Howard and you are no Ryan Howard. (Sports Bubbler)
  • An outstanding look at the "history" of the "Terrible Towel". (Yardbarker)
  • The Green bay Packers hired Dom Capers as their new defensive coordinator and announced they were going from a 4-3 to a 3-4.  That still doesn't help the fact that most of their secondary need walkers.  I assume that Capers has an escape clause in his contract which allows him to leave Green Bay if the NFL has another expansion franchise available.
  • Fox believes that the BCS being solely a cable entity will hurt it.  I agree, but I also agree that with this new digital cable law which practically requires you to have cable or a dish, it won't be so bad.  In actuality, what hurts the BCS is that it is not a playoff system. (Awful Announcing)
  • The Cubs unload a broken Pie system.  By the way, translated into English, Felix Pie means Jerry Owens.
