Quick Shots: Super Thoughts
- Quite a battle in Tampa last night. If you watched the end of the second and fourth quarters, you pretty much saw the entire game.
- Is it just me, or do the Steelers in the red zone scream "Bears?"
- I, for one, enjoyed the big game halftime show. There's nobody better live than the Boss.
- Joe Cowley sinks to his knees and fallates The Chairman. Joe claims those of us that just can't embrace The Chairman have an agenda. It's not that at all, Joe. It's just we don't easily forget all of the rotten things the man has done over the last 28 years. I could write several blogs on that subject alone. Meanwhile, The Chairman continues to pop off. (Sports by Brooks)
- Cubs announcer Cory Provus would be perfect as Jim Powell's replacement in Milwaukee. Perfect. Glad to see the Brewers going out of the market as there is no one here that could do the job.
- Back at Soxfest, Ozzie says Beckham may have to bend because of the Cuban Missile and perhaps the Cuban Sandwich. So, does that put Gordo at second base, where a glut of young players could be there for awhile or is he the new left fielder after Jermaine Dye leaves, moving Q to right. Heck, if the kid could play center, I'd start him there on opening day. (Sox Machine)
- Ozzie also says AJ will hit second and be his primary catcher, probably killing any Pudge Rodriguez buzz once and for all. (MLB Trade Rumors)
- I didn't waste my time with a moment of the pre-game yesterday, so I have no clue if it was good or bad. I do know that NBC did a terrific job of broadcasting the game, although there were a couple of moments where Al Michaels got a little disoriented. I even thought John Madden did a fine job.

- A moving tribute to Ooh Ooh Uribe (35th Street Review)
- Maybe Nick Saban needs to do double duty. For what they are paying him, he probably should. Next, they ought to consider bringing in Wimp Sanderson. THERE'S a man who can give a pep talk.
- Paul Finebaum tells us something we've know for weeks. I guarantee Mike Hamilton will be out of a job within three years.
- Bob Knight has expressed interest in the vacant Georgia head coaching job, vacated by the firing of Dennis Felton. I can't see it, though. Especially since no one on an SEC campus is supposed to be bigger than the football coach (exception: Kentucky)
- Meanwhile, Coach Knight has to be proud of his boy, Pat, who is a credit to the family name and values (Larry Brown Sports)
- I know this probably couldn't happen, but it might. (Serious Sports Network
