Twinkies Ink Not So Ordinary Joe

You've no doubt heard or seen the news by now that former White Sox third baseman Joe Crede is now a Twinkie.  For a team that thrives on clutch hitting, above average pitching and solid defense, it makes it a perfect fit.

For the Twinkies, it gives them stability at third base for the first time since Corey Koskie.

The biggest question in the room is will Crede's back last on the Rollerdome turf for a full season?  Sure, Crede says he is fine, but if teams were convinced of that certainly someone would have made Crede a serious offer.  As it is, he's got a one-year deal worth less than he wanted.  Will he be there in September is a question mark, one the Sox had and is the primary reason (besides Scott Boras) that Crede is no longer with the team.

Joe, thanks for the memories.  It isn't easy to see guys like you and the Big Skirt in another uniform.  Heck, I'll even go back to 1998 when the Sox let Ozzie Guillen go and he played for the Braves.  Seeing him in that Braves uniform was weird.

The Twinkies got them a heck of a bargain if Crede can play like he did in 2005. As long as his back is okay, he'll be a driving force for the Twinkies in 2009.
