Donny Baseball Thinks Ozzie Guillen is a Hater

During the A-Rod controversy, Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was asked his opinion.  Guillen, the easiest sound byte in baseball, said that steroid offenders should be dealt a year suspension.

Now, here to pour fuel on the fire, enter former New York Yankees first baseman and coach Don Mattingly.  Mattingly said that Ozzie trashed A-Rod and that he (Mattingly) is tired of all the A-Rod trashing. Excuse Donny Baseball if he's a bit sensitive to controversy and people making, as he said "mistakes."  Mattingly was forgiven in 1985 when he and a Yankee teammate were arrested for whizzing on a sidewalk in Kansas City (Don obviously thought he was home in Evansville, IN where the men are men and the sheep are nervous.)  He's also been through a very public divorce where one of the worst kept secrets in baseball was finally exposed: His ex-wife is an angry drunk.  A really angry drunk.

So forgive the former Yankees bench coach for taking offense to people taking shots at A-Rod. He's probably just a bit sensitive.

What I don't understand is why Mattingly would call out Guillen specifically.  Ozzie's comments weren't out of line, in fact they were hardly a ripple in the news cycle.  For Ozzie, that's a good day.  Yet Mattingly decided to reopen the case defending A-Rod and bashing Guillen.  One does not the point in that unless you yourself wish to get bashed.

Maybe they can meet in back of Camelback Ranch (jointly run by the White Sox and Mattingly's new team, the Dodgers) and settle it like men.
