Ozzie Wants To Bring The Grim Reaper In From The Bullpen

I've read so many cheap shots this morning about Ozzie Guillen's comments that he would like to die on a baseball field.  I don't find his comments silly, I actually agree with him.

If you love what you do, don't you want to go down doing it?  If you are a writer, don't you want to be found slumped over a key board?  Or if you are Hawk Harrelson, don't you want to leave this world in the middle of a home run call "He looks up, you can put it on the board...(THUMP)"

I totally get what Ozzie is saying.  He is a man of passion, who loves baseball almost (maybe even more) than he loves his family.  He loves baseball so much he wants to be carried off the field after giving the game his last breath.  That's admirable in my book.

The only better way to go is like Sgt. Phil Esterhaus in "Hill Street Blues".  When the actor who played the part, Michael Conrad died of cancer, they wrote him out of the script be explaining that "he had expired in the throws of passion, dying with a big smile on his face."

I hope someday they find my dead carcass slumped over a microphone.  Just not anytime soon.
