Packers: No Favre Retirement Ceremony in '09

The Packers announced yesterday that there would not be a retirement ceremony this season and that both sides needed to "cool down a year or two." That would be Favre, still holding a grudge that Packers GM Ted Thompson called his bluff and sent him to the New York Jets.
Favre has said in the past that as long as Thompson is connected with the team, he's not interested in a ceremony.
This is where fans in Wisconsin can see Favre for what he really is, a manipulative, ego Maniacal man child. Nobody says Thompson has to be anywhere near the ceremony. The point is, it's for the fans anyway, for them to show their love and appreciation and their thanks for a brilliant career. But rather than honor the fans with his presence, Favre twists a ceremony into some form of punishment to the Packers brass who let him go.
I can tell you from sitting in the middle of this mess that a majority of Packer fans don't understand why he's doing this. The ones that do would probably support Favre if he took to Thompson with an ax.
If and when you watch or attend the Brett Favre retirement ceremony at Lambeau Field, listen for him to issue the standard line "I want to thank all the great fans of Green Bay for all their support over the years." If he really feels it, he shouldn't be punishing them for the perceived misdeeds of others.
